The only reason I'm a repeat customer is because the beer is ridiculously cheap. Do NOT eat the food. I've had a handful of friends fall ill after eating there and I've personally witnessed kitchen staff use the bathroom and walk out without washing their hands. (not to say they didn't wash them once they got back upstairs, just sayin)

Go for the beer, stay for the patio.

This place has really authentic mexican food, and tasty guacamole. They do have  a few great vegetarian options but be careful ordering any of the dishes and asking for 'no meat' because you might be in for a surprise. I've walked all the way home with my take-out only to find chicken or some other white(ish) meat in the dish.

I'd recommend going on a nice day so you can hang out on the patio.

I really dig the self-serve element and love that each yogurt option has calorie details (not sure about fat) so you can decide on how indulgent you want to get :)

They have a wide assortment of toppings from fruit to nuts and chocolate.

Happy to have this in the neighbouhood now, especially with summer around the corner. I've visited this location twice now and have no complaints.

Perfect walking distance from Trinity Bellwoods for those lazy summer afternoons!

I eat here entirely too often, but I can't help myself. I live in the neighbourhood and have brought many friends for dinner (easy converts). There are a handful of vegetarian options but the more popular dishes are mostly meaty. I'm a vegetarian and generally stick with the cheese (panela) or vegan (avocado) burrito.

The staff are all super friendly and are quick to offer recommendations to those who just can't decide. It get's busy on weekends to make a reservation in advance or go during the week (they have drink specials on some weekdays)

Be smart, order the guacamole. You won't regret it. Oh, and if you have room for dessert try the chocolate molten lava cake thing (don't recall the specific name) it's ridiculous.

I went to The Stanton Social last week while in New York with a few girlfriends. We all adored the food and ambiance! They seated us in one of their big comfy booths which was perfect for the three of us, yet could seat 5-6.

It's a tapas place, which means we were able to try a whole bunch of dishes (we loved them all) We tried the bruschetta, zucchini tempura, roasted beets, apple & brie quesadilla, squash ravioli and mini doughnuts for dessert.

The staff was friendly, the ambiance was great and the food was scrumptious!

We all vowed to return on our next trip to NYC. You should go too.

Gourmand has THE best cookie on the planet. (It's more of a cake really) It's sort of like the mystery of how they get the caramilk into the caramilk bar - how do they infuse so much chocolate inside that damn cookie?

If you're looking for something a little less sweet and a little more substantial, try the avocado tomato sandwich (grilled or not) it's amazing. (Vegans: There is cheese). I end up caving in and getting one of these bad boys 2-3 times a month, SO good.

The staff is friendly, especially with familiar faces. I strongly recommend popping by!

Sadie's Diner & Juice Bar

I have been to Sadie's a number of times and each time I walk out satisfied.

The staff and service is consistently top notch and I don't think I've had a Sadie's meal that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

I'm a big fan of their breakfast/brunch menu. Their blueberry buckwheat pancakes are super tasty. My favourite item so far has been the tofu bacon club, using their yummy veggie bacon (I need to find out where they get it!)

Alright, I think I'm going to go for lunch today...

Burrito Bandidos

I am a huge, HUGE burrito lover. So it goes without saying that I might be a tad bias when reviewing any burrito shop....I wear my heart on my sleeve.

That said, I love Burrito Bandidos. I am a vegetarian, so I really appreciate that they offer a veggie soy meat option. I usually get all the toppings, all sauces, and spicy.

They're open late for a post-bar, pre-bedtime bite. For the 9-5'ers, you can call ahead on your lunch hour for easy pick-up. However, if you work near by it might be faster to just walk in and order.

The staff is friendly, the burritos are smokin' and if you're a vegetarian - you're winning.

Bovine Sex Club

Bovine hasn't really been a local for me until just recently when they started their weekly 'School for Band Aids' on Sunday nights.

It's not the regular playlist (or clientele) with DJ Candy-O spinning Indie, Brit Rock, New Wave, and Retro. Oh, and there is a light-up dance floor. (Yes, the Bovine HAS a a light-up dance floor)

It's a great way to finish off your weekend or kick-off your work week. I have hit up the last two weeks and really enjoyed myself. Great music, great people and cheap drinks.

I think it starts at 10pm.

Czehoski

I checked out the Czehoski Summerlicious menu last night. Sadly, it left much to be desired for the vegetarian in the room.

My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the Smoked Mackerel, Seared Ontario Lamb Saddle, and creme caramel for dessert.

My vegetarian option consisted of: Roasted Tomato Consomme, Risotto of local summer vegetables, Mozzarella Bufuala and for dessert I had the 'brownie'.

The risotto was actually quite lovely. I enjoyed it. The tomato consomme was pretty much canned tomato juice with some basil tossed in it and the brownie could be compared to a day old bran muffin.

I was so looking forward to trying the food there and I'm surprised actually. I have yet to try out their regular menu, so I'm not going to write them off completely. I've heard good things about their mac-n-cheese and veggie burger. Perhaps I'll revise this review or write a new one when I try some other items. Sorry Czehoski.
