The beer was lack-luster.
Alright, now that that has been taken care of... the food was very average and unexceptional, to the point that I cannot recall, at this very moment, what it was that I had for dinner (it was a sandwich, I think). My friend and I planned on having a quick bite because we wanted to get out of there so we could do some shopping at Eaton's Centre before everything closed; however, the wait staff had other plans in mind. Getting and paying the bill was a twenty-minute affair. We were fully ignored and it was a dismal experience.
Will not return.

Excalibur Comics
Categories: Toy Stores, Bookstores, Comic Books
The owner Robert runs a great store and is hands-down one of the friendliest people I've ever met. If the specific volume or issue you are looking for is not available, he will literally move mountains to help you get your hands on it. The care and service available at Excalibur is leaps and bounds beyond any other store in the city. Great selection of everything from comics, trade paperbacks, collectible card games, figures, and much much more.
If you find yourself on the west-side of town, and are even remotely interested in anything geek related, mosey on down to Excalibur. You definitely will not be disappointed.

The burgers are large as hell, the fries and drink combo is cheap, and the meal will leave you satisfied, I guarantee it. (Disclaimer: This is not a guarantee).
Bonus: The gentlemen behind the counter are damn funny and friendly. A visit to SB is never dull.

I also want to add that the last couple of times that I did try to visit for a quick drink, I was promptly turned away at the door. Apparently they close at bizarre hours.

The Fat Belgian is a cozy little restaurant with a prime beer list. Fantastic selection which rivals Beer Bistro & Volo. Great service and VERY knowledgeable staff.

Duggan's Brewery
Categories: Gastropubs, Breweries, Pubs
The atmosphere was a bit more upscale then I had expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Additionally, the food was definitely not pub-fare quality, as I have come to expect from brewery locals. The only minor complaint I noted was that the menu descriptions could have been a bit more detailed. I had the "V and Chips" (A hollowed out loaf of bread about 10 inches long filled with french fries, topped off with a curry sauce), which was very filling. Great place for a lunch with friends, not so sure about dinner. I'll have to try the steak and report back...
Anyone whose had brewery-fresh beer knows that it is in a league of it's own, and the selection at Duggan's brewery does not disappoint. For the uninitiated, I recommend ordering a flight of beers to sample the many varieties of ales and lagers on tap (For four small glasses, it comes to $6 after tax). The Asian Lager, Festbeer and #9 IPA were absolutely fantastic, and my buddy enjoyed his Porter and Stout very much.
The service during the lunch hour was somewhat sub-par. We were greeted and seated in a small window alcove with a high table and high chairs. While the arrangement was not necessarily cramped, it was a little tight.
The waiter who took care of us made a multitude of mistakes... When we wanted to order samplers of beer, he did not explain to us that it was $6 for four samples. We tried to order three each, and instead of informing us of the pricing, he returned with four samples (omitting one of each of our requested drinks) and told us then then that it was six dollars for four samples. In retrospect, had we known, we would have just gotten four samples each. My friend was brought the wrong dish and had to wait an additional 10 to 15 minutes to get his food. When we asked for the bill to be split, the waiter told us that it would be no problem, returned with a single bill and told us to inform him of how we wanted to split it :\
I am going to dock them only one star for the service issues, as I had the impression that the waiter was new, and the beer was so good that I am willing to give them a pass on it. Being the beer hound that I am, I am going to be visiting this establishment many times in the near future.

Positives:
+Great Smooties (Love the Early Bird! Get one next time!)
+My customer experience has always been a positive one. Very courteous service. No complaints there. (Well, except for the recent development of thanking the customer for "investing in their health today" when handing them their change. I literally burst out laughing when the girl behind the counter said this to me. The poor thing... someone actually instructed her to say this to every customer. I think such managerial decisions should be punishable by catapult).
Negatives:
-EXTREME HEALTH SUPPLEMENT OVERLOAD HOLYCRAPBUYPOWERBARZZZZZ!!!!!!!11111111 (Seriously, you are bombarded from every angle with crap slogans about protein this and healthy living that... it's like that episode of Family Guy when Stewie tries to sign up for a gym membership... or like being in a Powerthirst advert. lulz).
-Most of the times I've been in, the place is understaffed, leading to long waits if there are any other customers.
I noticed OMB for the first time wandering around aimlessly in the downtown core. By pure happen-stance I took a random right onto Temperance St. and I am glad I did. I'm pretty sure I made a fool of myself staring into the establishment from the sidewalk for what was probably at least a minute before walking in, curiosity piqued. I didn't order anything exactly then since I had just eaten lunch, but the two fellows who were manning the grill and cash register were not at all upset that I had entered just to do some recon. The menu looked damn good and I made a point of returning later in the day with a friend to grab a bite. I was not disappointed. The service was excellent and the burger+fries+drink were awesome.
HIGHLY recommend. Don't be afraid to order excessive amounts of toppings for your burger, I made the mistake of holding back and sort of regret it now, thinking back. Will be sure to remedy this next time.
Enjoy.

Seriously though, a handful of friends and I converged on this little restaurant for a buddy's birthday the other day and missed our reservation by ten minutes. We were then told that we would have to wait for a table. I guess it was given away? That sounded alright... until we passed the 20 minutes mark of waiting... Then things we're so great anymore.
The rest of the night went off without a hitch once we were finally seated. The meal was pleasant and service average. The food was filling (as expected).
Probably won't eat there again.
Date
I ordered a Quesadilla and some sweet-potato fries and ended up inadvertently having a "light" dinner as a result. The quesadilla was TINY and one of the quarters was empty! As in.. no cheese, no chicken... nothing... Just two pieces of pita sandwiched together. How the HELL did something like that make it out of the kitchen!? I couldn't believe it.
My friend and I waited a little longer then usual to be served and to receive the bill. Minus points for that.
The beer was over-priced by a couple of bucks. Minus!
My first experience here was sour enough that I will never return for seconds and has earned my very first 1-star review!
Arrivederci Rivoli!
