Ewen Glory
Category: Notaries
Neighbourhood: Kensington-Cedar Cottage
After making the trip over, Glory sat me down, went over the form I needed notarized, checked my IDs, and then had me sign the form. As we chatted she asked if I needed my IDs certified. I said I didn't think so as the form just needed copies of my IDs. To be safe and to make sure I didn't have to worry about making another trip to see her or have to wait over the long weekend, she was nice enough to go ahead and certify a copy of my IDs for free.
The whole experience was very pleasant and pain-free. I would have absolutely no reservations recommending Glory Ewen to others who needed a notary public.

De Dutch Pannekoek House

I ordered the strawberry and whipped cream pannekoek and I rather enjoyed it. It simple and and just plain good. Service was friendly and the place has the air of a local breakfast cafe which I admittedly prefer for my breakfast restaurants over being pretentious.
Just be warned: the OJ is rather expensive. Makes me want to smuggle it in a flask like some prohibition drunkard who needs his mimosa in the morning.

Cinemark Tinseltown

Neighbourhood: Downtown
So while I am willing to come to Tinseltown when it is the only place in town showing a film I want to see, it is not usually where I wish a movie would be shown.
And service when sitting outside was slow. While my girlfriend and I were in no rush, we eventually tired of waiting so much that I proactively went inside to find our server to get our bill. So if you are not willing to sit lazily during and after dinner, do not sit outside.

I ended up getting a hot chocolate and a slice of pecan pie. The former was very good while the latter was just good. I would have no qualms going back, but only when I had money in my pocket as this place is not cheap.

But when we reached the entry way and noticed the Google Maps Places statuette saying this was one of Alice Waters' favorite places, I knew we were in for a treat. We only had to wait for half an hour (not bad at all for a Sunday brunch) until we were seated in the back. Luckily, the back means you get to watch the cooks work so you do not feel cheated in the slightest for not getting to sit near the open window at the front.
I ended up ordering the blueberry waffles with the fresh whipped cream. Wow! I love waffles with stuff in them and these were great. But what really put it over the top was the whipped cream; they were so amazing everyone was helping me scrape the plate and just eat the cream!
With the great food, friendly service, and quaint atmosphere, I am definitely looking forward to going back.

Being the last sit-down customers for the night, we didn't expect any real issues. Heck, being the only customers in the restaurant would seem to suggest that everything would go well as there are no other patrons to distract the waitress. Oh, how wrong we were.
Out of the five of us, two people got their order screwed up. One person didn't get the bleu cheese dressing for their salad. Another didn't get the grilled onions on their burger. Nothing complicated in either situation, but apparently too much to get it right. I can understand being tired and maybe messing up one order, but two orders, and especially on things that are in no way out of the ordinary is just bad service.
And to top it off the splitting of our bill was messed up. I could understand not getting it right if we were in a restaurant university students didn't frequent, but this the U Village for crying out loud! The university is right there!
Oh, and the cheese fries were just plain sad. Definitely ain't going to this place again.

So while I wouldn't bother eating here without the movie deal and the "Eh" in the name should be more like the American meaning of "eh" (i.e., "meh"), the movie ticket deal makes it fine to stop in for food before going to see a movie.
