Luckily the food went towards the decor. My ribs were good, with the meat practically slipping off the bone. Service was also good. It definitely wasn't mind-blowing, but I didn't feel like I was ripped off either.
I was not disappointed. The waffles were really good! And on top of the good food I also received friendly, prompt service. Overall a very pleasant experience that I would be happy to repeat.

- The table for our reservation was not ready when we arrived four minutes late.
- The maitre d' asked us to stand to the side while we waited for said table to be set instead of offering us a place at the bar.
- Server was nice and attentive.
- My medium rare/rare rib eye actually had some burnt spots which should never happen on such a lightly cooked piece of meat. Otherwise it was a good.
- Gelato that came with my dessert had some ice crystals in it.
- Jazz was great.

I lived in Berkeley, CA for several years and I went to local hot dog chain, Top Dog, regularly. Ordering brat w/ some mayo or cheese was always a pleasure. But then I moved to Vancouver.
Luckily, early on in my time here, I found the Dawg House. While there menu is not as extensive at Top Dog, the food is just as good. You will always find the hot dog cart outside of the Future Shop with the same friendly staff, always ready to cook you up a brat w/ their array of condiments at your beck and call. I am partial to the brat w/ their Dawg House cheese condiment.
If you ever find yourself within walking distance of Burrard and Broadway and want a hot dog, I would highly recommend walking past the Dawg House and picking something up.

But I did manage to find a dish and it was A-OK. The curry sauce was nothing special, but it still tasted fine nonetheless. If my girlfriend decided she wanted vegetarian again I would be willing to go here.

But there are some shortcomings to this place which is why they lose a star. One is to remember your cash. Another, as Marc D. points out, they could take the taste up a level if they made the tortillas fresh.
Food was good (better than Indian Oven but also more expensive), service was fine (waitress had no personality but the owner is very nice and both were attentive), and the decor is nice (sans the power cable coming out of the glowing buddha in front of one of the water features in the shop).

CMYE - Kiddin' Around With Board Games - Part…
Tuesday 7:00 PM
Date

We went to Beacon's on a rainy Tuesday and I ordered the large soft server dipped in chocolate. And the verdict? It's really good. Compared to other soft server I have tasted it is much richer. Seems to help keep it together as well as it didn't drip all over my hand like most soft serve. Definitely going to be a regular stop in Victoria for an ice cream lover like me.
