I expected more from this place. Maybe because it was over hyped to me, or maybe I ordered the wrong thing. It just wasn't what I was looking for.

I came early one day before work and had their German breakfast. My plate came piled high with scrambled eggs mixed with veggies, sausage, bacon and cured ham. It was served with a potatoes and toast as well. The best thing on the plate was their cured ham. Yum, but the rest of it was just meh.

My dining companion got something similar but it came with a schnitzel and gravy. The schnitzel wasn't thin enough and was overcooked leaving it tough and chewy.

All in all, I was a bit disappointed by everything. I am curious to try their lunch offerings though, so perhaps a return visit will be in the future.

Ack! Never again. This place just oozes sketchiness. With so many places for amazing pho in Vancouver, I won't be coming back here.

Their soup base wasn't hot enough and didn't cook the beef flank properly. One of my dining companion's meat didn't cook at all. Even when they added in more hot broth, it was still very pink. What if he got sick??

The noodles themselves were fairly standard and decent. The broth didn't have much flavour and wasn't hot enough. I avoided the meat once I saw that it wasn't cooking properly.

Never again.

Slurp slurp! Gotta love their combo noodle soups! You can choose the soup base, what kind of protein, and the type of noodle. The combo comes with a drink. Add a couple dollars more and you can upgrade to a specialty drink or add in an appetizer.

I loved my fish broth. It was really tasty. Can't wait to try out all the different options and combinations. Their regular menu looked good as well.

Probably one of my fav places for breakfast in the city. Its not greasy or oil, yet leaves you satisfied in terms of a delicious breakfast.

The waffle is light and slightly sweet. I wish it were a bit fluffier, but it was still really good. I've tried their regular waffle, and their waffle with raspberry mixed into the batter. The raspberries add a tartness to the waffle which is a nice change. I don't like to put anything on my waffles - usually only some butter. Here I didn't need to put anything at all due to the sweetness already in the batter.

I've tried their sausages and bacon. Both cooked well and not too greasy. The eggs are decent. My only problem is with their hash browns. They were not cooked enough the times I've been there. Maybe its time to try out their panfries instead.

Service is unhurried. Not fast, not slow either. I usually spend 30 - 45 minutes here depending on how fast I decide on what to eat!

I've already been here a couple times and definitely will be back for more. I'm curious about their lunch and dinner menus. The dessert card on the table looks scrumptious.

The review posted on the door says that Tim Burton would be proud of the decor, and I wholeheartedly agree. You walk into the a mishmash of decor, with plastic painted deer heads lining the walls. The drinks listed on the chalkboard sound so exotic and I desperately wanted to try them out, but unfortunately, it was the middle of the day. Something to explore next time!

We split their regular poutine and a club house sandwich with yam fries. The poutine was delish. Slightly salty, but I love salt so I can't complain. I just wished the fries were cooked a little bit more. The club house sandwich was moist and tasty. I loved the mayo/mustard combo they had. The yam fries were okay. Maybe needed a little longer to cook.

All in all, I enjoyed the food. I would love to go back after work one day for drinks and appys with friends.

Probably one of the best sashimi I've ever had. Its served over ice so it feels and tastes really fresh. Their tempura is to die for. Super flaky and you can taste herbs in the batter, definitely not just the standard tempura batter.

We tried their Canuck and Scallop Magma specialty rolls. I really enjoyed the black sesame sauce on top of their scallop magma roll. While both were tasty, there wasn't anything stand out about them.

Finally, we got their Sapporo miso ramen which really lacked flavour. I wasn't impressed by this at all.

In total, the meal came to almost $60. The food was not worth the money. With so much variety in Vancouver, I much rather go elsewhere.

I don't understand why, week after week, there is such a massive line at this restaurant. Maybe its just its location? I've been here once many moons ago and did not enjoy it. When a friend invited me here, I decided sure, why not, maybe they've changed.

Did they? Nope. With so many choices for dim sum in and around Vancouver, this place just doesn't cut it. The menu is confusing - they were trying to be helpful by giving us an English ordering sheet along with a menu with photos and numbers. The only problem is that the numbers on the menu did not match the numbers on the ordering sheet. I'm not sure if there was even a Chinese ordering sheet - we probably would have had more successes with that. We just guessing as to what we were ordering.

Their dumplings are massive. Ha gao the size of my fist! Every dumpling we ordered had way too much shrimp in it. By the end, no one wanted to touch them cause it was shrimp overload.

A lot of their dishes that came out, looked and tasted funny. Their egg tarts? Tasted off. We couldn't figure it out. Their chili salted calamari? Too much batter. Nothing like what other restaurants serve.

Ugh, I gave you a chance a redemption and it just wasn't up to par. It will be even more moons before I even contemplate returning.

There's something different about this place. The soup base has a wonderful flavour - very different from other pho places. It seemed richer and with more herbs mixed in.

My bowl of noodles was perfect. Warming me up on the frigged cold day and filling me up. There was good meat to noodle ratio. They were very generous with the amount of meat that was in the bowl.

To start we ordered their spring roll and their salad rolls. They brought each of us individual dipping sauces without us even asking for them. The spring roll was nice and crispy and hot! It was fried fresh. The salad roll was yum as well, especially with their peanut sauce (which didn't have too strong a peanut flavour).

Service was fast and friendly. If I'm ever in the area again and craving a bowl of noodle soup, I'll definitely be back.

One word: LUNCH SPECIAL! Okay, that's two words, but you get my drift.

For $7 you get a massive plate of food with rice on the side and a spring roll and a bowl of soup to start. Eating this much for lunch should be a crime.

Their lunch menu switches over to being a dinner menu at 3pm, so make sure you get there early! I arrived slightly before the switch time and they were still happy to give me the lunch special price. I ordered their yellow curry and it was massive. I ended up taking most of it home. I was already full from the soup and spring roll.

Service was quick - our food came out really fast. Definitely will be back to try more of their specials!

I came here for lunch one day and I didn't even know where to start. Solly's Bagelry is part lunch counter, part store, part cafe and it is cute beyond words!

I ordered their salmon and cream cheese bagel to satisfy a craving and it was sure delicious. The capers served with it wasn't too salty or overpowering. Yum! They were quite generous with the smoked salmon too (and they better be! The bagel came to $10). I got it on a sesame bagel and there was a slight hint of sesame in every bite (unlike the bagels you get at Timmy's). The price was a bit steep for just a bagel, but for an occasional treat, its definitely worth it.

I was so tempted to get one of their cinnamon buns - they looked so delicious! But that will be saved for my next visit. Definitely will be back for more baked goodness.
