I have recieved excellent care for my 2 cats at Danforth Veterinary. I like their hours - I don't have to take the day off work to go to the clinic. Appointments are always on time, the staff is very friendly, and both veterinarians I've seen are incredibly helpful. Everyone is great with animals and sensitive situations. They understand how important our pets are to us.
I've always recieved follow up calls to inform me of test results and remind me of appointments. I couldn't be any happier with their service.
I do find them to be a bit expensive, but this is normal for a clinic in Toronto. Another typical Toronto thing is it seems quite small. I've never been in the back but the wait room is really tiny. With that said, their appointments are on time so you won't have to wait there very long - and there's usually only 1 or 2 other people waiting as well.
Outstanding food and service. Keep in mind I am not exactly a "foodie" - I am more a fan of your typical comfort foods and flavours, so Joey appeals to me more than the nearby Glow restaurant.
The upstairs patio is now a summer staple for me and the indoor dining is where I plan on taking friends for birthday dinners and other events worth celebrating. Go to the patio for lunch one day and you won't be disappointed. The vibe is much different during the day, at night it is much busier and people are more social.
I highly recommend trying their mashed potato rolls.
I'll end this review with a public "thank you" to the lady who had too many peach bellinis and felt social enough to approach me while I was shopping at Don Mills.
Yes, this place is huge. Yes, there are parents constantly yelling at their children, but without this it just wouldn't be WalMart now would it?
I am reviewing this place because I came here as a last attempt to find some makeup and hair products that are widely available in the US but of course, impossible to find here. I found my goodies right away and then wandered around the store. I was surprised at how many items they carry that I didn't think were available in Canada yet!
When I checked out, I went to the express lane (there are 8 express check-outs!) and got out of there very quickly, on a Sunday no less, so I can't complain.
Another good thing is this walmart actually has sufficient aisle room so you can get through with your carts/strollers/herd of children.

Unknowingly, we went on an evening with a bunch of schools attending so even though we got there right as the doors opened, so our seats were in the very last row, in one of the corners of the stadium. If you are stuck in that spot, you are already in a bit of a crap situation, but it only got worse after being seated.
We were the only table within my view eating off of paper plates. Everyone else had actual plates and bowls (as a Yelper has posted pictures), but we got disposables. Apparently they ran out of clean dishes. Okay. When you are paying $70 a head, you like to at least feel like the meal is worth eating off of actual dinnerware.
The schools in front of us were rowdy, and in most cases at Medieval Times this would be awesome - but they were standing up to watch the show and yelling non-stop. We couldn't hear any of the commentary of the show, nor could we actually see the show when they were standing. I'm surprised their servers didn't take care of this, as I'm sure they know it is nearly impossible to see when people are standing in front of you. Eventually I rained on their parade and told the students that none of us could see the show. I wish I went and talked to them earlier though - by then it was about 3/4 of the way through the show.
The meal itself was pretty good. What I would expect out of such an event. The chicken was nicely seasoned and I loved the ribs. My server was very nice and tried to make the best out of our bad seating situation.
What I saw of the show was entertaining, but having a closer seat would have made the world of a difference in my opinion.
Avoid the pre-show drinks. I think I paid $5 for a coke. Really.

The cake itself was melt-in-your-mouth soft, the icing was fresh and piled high on the cake. My only critique is the icing was just a bit too sweet for me - but I'm sure most people would enjoy it. Nothing too sweet to keep me from craving one right now as I write this review.
The shop itself is very cute with a bunch of amazing looking treats. There isn't much room to sit down, but it wasn't busy there anyways. I opted to get my cupcake to go and the girl behind the counter took great care in wrapping my cupcake to make sure it didn't get damaged in transport.
I really like this place and I'll be back.

Murale

As much as I love Sephora - can we talk about the joke of a "reward points" program they offer? Spend $100 (before taxes) and receive a free sample. Really. That's what it is. You select between 3 "deluxe" samples offered at the time, which are usually products that don't excite me in the slightest.
As far as Shoppers Drugmart/Murale goes - spend $75 on a "20x the points" day and instantly receive $25 worth of points on your Optimum card, which can be used towards anything in the store.
Now that Murale carries many of the same brands as Sephora, it only makes sense for me to shop at Murale. It is closer to my home, not too busy, and I can collect points. Love it! I found the store very spacious and love that there are testers of everything - even drugstore items.
The only brand I normally shop at Sephora that I noticed was missing is Tarte. There were some other brands there that were very new to me, like "Mommy Makeup" which I will NEVER buy due to the name alone.
Quite possibly my favourite part of Murale is that there is a Benefit Brow Bar (eyebrow shaping and grooming). I have been hearing about these for years and I'm interested in finally trying it out. Also, my skin gets very red after hair removal, so luckily I can shop around Murale with my reddened brow-area and not feel like a total freak.

Once I entered through the doors, our very friendly server seated us and gave us menus. I didn't realize the Wimpy's menu would be so big - and lots of items appealed to me, especially on the breakfast menu. This isn't just your bacon and eggs. Crepes filled with fresh fruit, orange pecan frech toast.. tons of options. I ended up going for the veggie burger and onion rings though - I wasn't disappointed with my choice, it was delicious. I'm just still thinking about how awesome that french toast might have been.
Its worth noting that their gravy is pretty awesome, too.
I was also very impressed by the coke in glass bottles!
Wimpy's trumps Johnny Rocket's as far as diner chains in Toronto go.
Everyone in my family loves this place.
On a sad note.. I heard one of the owners recently passed away. I know it really shook a lot of the regular customers, and of course her family. I just hope they continue to keep this business in the family, because they truly make T&T what it is.
I feel like Tom's has been around forever. Great place to grab a burger and top it up however you wish. The burgers are delicious, I've never tried anything else here. I've never had any issues with the service, but the decor is pretty typical of your average greasy burger joint.
I had a blind date at the movie theater here that did not end too well.. I mean, the guy pretended he was Spider Man and shot imaginary webs from his wrists and ran around the cinema.. but it makes for a good story, yeah?

Dr. Au always gives me thorough answers to my questions and I find her and the staff to be very understanding of any financial or otherwise sensitive situations. You can expect all of them to treat your pets as if they are their own, and I wouldn't hesitate to leave my cats here overnight if I ever needed to do so.
Another point I have to make is that unlike many other clinics, I don't feel like Danforth Veterinary pushes any products or unnecessary tests/procedures on my animals. I feel as though Dr. Au is always professional and thinking in the best interests of the pets and owners, therefore I trust her with any diagnosis or tests that she does order for my cats.
I have come to the point where I don't feel sick when paying a vet bill because I think it is worth every penny at this clinic. Now if only I could say the same for my trips to the dentist!
