- the sheesha isn't great, but hella good compared to any other sheesha joints downtown,
- the food is good...but binocular distance far from great. The fact that it comes with sheesha and a rockin morrocan green tea makes it a little more worth while.
- the ambience! To me, this was the selling point and the main reason I'd return to this place. Cozy booths and a nice decour count for something. While I was there, there was a live musician playing the bongo along with the soft background music which completely turned my frown upside down n actually helped me enjoy this place for what it is!
I'm a Pakistani with a sheesha in my family room...So keep in mind I'm a very harsh critic for both the food and the wacky tobaccy. What makes this place a real winner though is the fact that it's got a lil sumfin for everyone: food that's eatable, sheesha that smokes well and a cozy place to take it all in.
If you're looking for a unique night out, check this place out...the owner is real nice and the city of Toronto needs to do what it can to keep an enjoyable place like this from going under.

This is not your ordinary bakery...it's more like a lifestyle! If I'm lucky, I get to go here every weekend and stock up the kitchen with all sorts of baked goodies for the week.
The breads are amazing, n the hot table is pretty damn impressive too! While I've had better cakes elsewhere, this has easily become my go to bakery for greaty pastries. My personal favorates here are the canolis and the chocolate mousse that comes in a chocolate cup.
Part of the problem for me is that while it isn't all that expensive, you get overwhelmed by the variety of breads, sweets, meats, n random ass things that you suddenly realize you cant live without. That's where the free samples kick you in the ass...cause one taste and your pupils dilate and you suddenly 'need' more! It's not uncommon to walk in for a loaf of bread n walk out with a $20 basket full of joy.

Prepare yourself to embark on a journey, half way around the world only to enter a setting that forces its third world ambience upon you and yet settles it with the aroma of world class Pakistani cuisine.
If your gonna put up a fuss about disposable cutlery, plastic chairs or the 'rennovations' that don't ever seem be complete, then LTH is clearly not for you.
Otherwise if good food and a uniquely fun experience is what you're craving, this place stands with it's head up high among the best restaurants this city has to offer.
Personal favorates include the lamb kebobs, beef kebobs, butter chicken and daal makhani. Like many other great restaurants, very few things off the menu are bad but the kebobs (preferably the red meat ones) are DEE-F'N-LICIOUS!
The prices are too good for this food, but i guess that explains the use of plastic forks and styrafoam plates.
Unless you're planning a trip half way across the world, this is the best way to experience Pakistan for it's delicious cuisine and in your face culture.

The service here is great and so is the ambience. Unfortunately everything else you can get better from the frozen foods isle at Loblaws.
The lunch wasn't terrible...but the delivered dinner was really hard to swallow. I don't normally enjoy writing mean reviews but carrot aachar and white rice mixed together should NOT be called vegetable biryani!

Hands down, my favorate spot in the GTA. The pastas are good, the pizzas are great, and the sandwhiches and Sunday brunch are another reason to love life!
The creative genious that crafted this menu is like Michaelangelo to me (not the ninja turtle, but the other guy)...an artist among artists! Each sandwhich is served on it's own unique bun/bread, with a specific cheese to bring out the medly of flavours from each fresh and favorful ingredient that tops the mouth watering meat that has been marinated to the core and then cooked to perfection!
While I don't do pork, I've tried most of the sandwhiches on the menu by now. The slow roasted lamb and blackened salmon were both stellar. Even better were the steak sandwhich cooked the way YOU like it, and an incredible chicken sandwhich found on their daily specials menu.
I was already convinced that this was my favorate restaurant in the GTA and then I took my parents here for a sunday brunch. This place has a seperate sunday brunch menu that is unique to any i've ever seen before and it completely blew my mind. One of few places that can satisfy a vegetarian and a meataterian alike. Each plate comes with some mystery ingredients that i'd never heard of before. Huge portions, and great food that will leave your mouth watering for weeks every time you think back to it that great sunday afternoon. The only catch is the restaurant closes at 3pm on sundays and gets hella busy by noon. So set your alarms, put on those loose track pants and get to it!
If you love food...then its about time you met the new love of your life!

Peri-Peri Flame Grilled Chicken
Categories: Chicken Wings, Halal, Portuguese
I've been running back to this place over n over after having discovered it not too long ago. They're chicken is as juicy, tender and flavourful as you'll find in any good Portuguese chicken churrasqueira in the GTA!
If Nando's set a bar, then this place lept 7 feet over it and kept running!
What makes this place really stand up strong with 'the best of' in this category is their peri peri sauce. Behind the scenes is a trainned chef who is actually from Portugal (who woulda thunk it?!?!). The chef makes the peri peri sauce in-house and coming from a hot sauce connoiseur, i'd put that sh!t on everything! It's not too strong n its got just the right flavourful kick to be finger-licking good!
I've tried the chicken kebobs, the chicken (spicy), the chicken sandwhich and each and every side. All of the sides were great, particularly the roasted round potatoes. As for main dishes, the chicken was tender and ever so good but that was no surpise...what shocked me the most was how tasetful and juicy the chicken kebabs were. I've never tried these from a portuguese restaurant before (marinated cubes of chicken breast grilled on a skewer) but they were really good as well. While I even enjoyed the chicken sandwhich, i'd stick with the plate of chicken, rice and potatoes but that's just me.
For Mr. or Mrs. Sauga, this place is damn good and it's at an unbeatable price...the rest is up to you!
PERI PERI!
If you havent already been to Burrito Boyz or Burrito Bandidos, go check em out!

There's nothing worse than having the expectation of one thing and then getting something completely different. New to the Annex, I thought i'd check out this place to see how it scored in my books. After walking in, you can't help but notice how similar everything is to Burrito Boys...its almost as if you've been teleported to Peter St...cept for the fact that you're still sober and it just feels weird!
I asked the guy working at the counter what was up with that and he explained something about the two partners that owned burrito boys splitting up and going there seperate ways; as a result, we now have two seperate entities: burrito boys and burrito banditos! I couldnt be happier...more burrito for me!
I ordered my usual...large chicken burrito with all the fix-ins. I waited the usual ten - fifteen minutes for my burrito to get stuffed, wrapped, and toasted before it was hot and ready to be gone in 60 seconds into the abyss i often refer to as my stomach. I finally unwrapped this blessing brought to my new neighborhood, opened wide and took my first big bite...strange...It looks like a burrito, it smells like a burrito, but why the fcuk does it not taste like a burrito boys burrito?!?! This place has all the same veggies, the same processes, but something here has gone really wrong! I think that the recipe used to marinate the meats may be different from the original recipe from Burrito Boys. Either that or the process hasn't been perfected by the staff yet and i just got the burrito on an off night...i understand this place is still new and im still hoping that its not fair to count out something this good this soon...
N so I was in such shock and denial about this that i went back again and got the steak quesadilla. Same crap, different smell! I wanna say maybe its cause i was sober...but i've been to the Mississauga location a dozen times while being sober and NEVER have i been let down.
Sorry Banditos...but you got some serious work to do!
HELP ME...HELP YOU! I dont wanna end a 5 year + relationship like this...Fix that shit up!
Located half a block south of Yonge and Bloor, the back patio is one of my favorate hideouts in the area. The chicken and shrimp pad thai is very simple but still great. What i love is the quality of chicken that this place uses and the amount of meat that comes in a $7 meal. The fresh juices and appetizer rolls here pretty damn good too! If you like iced tea, i recommend trying their house blend...unique and soo damn good! For $10, your can pretty much get yourself a fresh juice and close to anything off the menu!
For good value, great food and a quick escape from Yonge street, this place always keeps me coming back when im in the area!
While i was born in Canada, my family was born and raised in Pakistan. We rarely look forward to going out for Pakistani food...i mean why would you go out when you can make better at home right? WRONG!!!
While some of their other menu options like their butter chicken were nothing to rave about, the kebabs here may quite possibly change your life! In all honesty, pretty much everything we've tried off the grill has been worth bragging about. I highly recommend the kebabs (ground beef skewers), the bihari boti (BBQ beef cubes - tender to the point that they will melt in your mouth), chicken tikka, and the matka ghost (lamb cooked in a clay pot with fresh herbs...a must try!).
What really differentiates this place from all others is their bread options. While their naan is fresh out of their in-house tandoor (never frozen...made fresh to order and fantastic!), the parathas are superb with anything off the grill. Parathas are like fried tortillas...thin, soft, buttered to death and sooo tasty that you know your stomach will hurt for the rest of the day. While i recommend the parathas for things off the grill, i also recommend getting a couple naans if you are in a large group or particularly with any dish that has a gravy or is stew like (ie. not off the grill).
With a genuinely nice owner, a clean environment, and great prices for such superb food...Cafe de Khan is the reason you want to pack your bags and make the road trip to heartland!
please note: all food prepared here is certified halal.

While my first impression of this place was that it would be another failed attempt at a franchise burrito joint (a lot like Moe's down the street), I was happily surprised to see that it was much more than just that.
While there are a handful of better fast food Mexican joints in the city, this place is a nice and welcome addition to the yonge n eggy area. I'd say it stands head and shoulders above Moe's and is direct competition for chipotle which plans to open up down the street as well.
While I'm not a fan of the steak taco...particularly when u compare it to the braised beef at chipotle, the chicken burrito won both me and my beloved belly over and had us come back demanding more the very next day! If you ask for spicy, you get spicy...n I dig that! The hot sauce packs a mean punch which makes this place worth while. Not to mention they're not shy on the guac...and the cheese is offered a free topping as well.
Yeah it's not the best burrito...but I won't lie, I'm lovin the fact it opened up close to my work. Mucho gracias!
