Good food, bad service.

Good service in a restaurant chain is really hard to find. Their cookie cutter food recipe is mostly awesome. Tables are not sturdy and hostess was unimpressed when I asked to switch tables.

It doesn't take much to smile when customers are inconvenienced right? Right?

The biscuit? Yum! The pasta? Double yum. Shrimps? Hail to the shrimps! The food compensated for the lousy service. The servers wanted to kick us out after a while. The more people in restaurants the better.

Overall, I felt I was just a number. A customer for that day and maybe not for life.

Bring sunglasses.

The store is bright and colorful and it's inside Loblaws... that's Joe Fresh.

While I like the style, the quality of jackets is quite poor. You can't wear this to impress your date. You will look like a walking IKEA - sporting trendy fashion manufactured in 5 minutes by cheap laborers.

Joe's sense of style is similar to LACOSTE and Ralph Lauren - hip, fashionable professional walking down the street of New York and Toronto. Trendy but not pretentious.

This style is hard to find at a cheap price.

Zara and H&M offer a more GQish look that will make your mother squirm (and smile) if she's not used seeing you wearing a very tight fit pair of jeans. Or can be too trendy for some people.

There are tons of good items though. Slippers, shorts and sports shirts where quality does not matter (a lot).

Do I recommend this? Oh for sure. Let hubby pick up vegetables downstairs as you try on new sports shirts.

This is a real good alternative to Starbucks -  great coffee and LOTS of pastries. It's in front of my gym so I sometimes refill the calories after hours of work out. No kidding. That corner of Yonge/Dundas is evilish with tons of restaurants, ice cream and break place.

But Panera is good evil.

They awesome stuff and their offering ranges from not so healthy to somewhat healthy. Soup, people, is high in calorie.

People watching is great on the first floor. - you can see the people walking around outside their big mirrors. I realized that begging is a good gig just by watching them. Seriously.

Tip: there's a separate men/women washroom upstairs, downstair washroom is for people with mobility problems. Like grandma.

My favorites? Whole wheat bagel with peanut butter, their mild coffee and whoo...the creamy soups. Yikes.

Free wi fi too but it can get packed so Ryerson students, don't keep your hopes high. They will potentially kick you out if you stay too long. If you only use their free wifi.

There are many good reasons why you should like this place:

1. It has a greasy burger if you don't care taking care of your heart
2. There's a pretentious healthy menu for those who ostentatiously watch their diet (and have cheesecake as dessert)
3. Free parking after 6pm

I am a sucker for free parking and this is a big plus. Food will be food for any franchise so I enjoy their different perks. There are cool booths where you can have decent conversation.

The last time I was in a small restaurant, I heard a story about bad cousin picking up another bad ass cousin. It was so bad that I dreamed about it for three nights.

The servers are adequately friendly and I had no complaint. It's not great. But then again, this is a franchise... this is NOT Cava.

I don't think you can get "excellent" service in any restaurant that offers $25 meals. I'm just saying.

I'm actually impressed, very impressed.

It's like my grandpa resurrected from the grave and then had botox.

This newly renovated venue sure looks more pleasing to documentary lovers, even to those who pretend that they are there for content and not for the venue. You know who you are! Yes, it's you!

There is an optional membership fee of $35, just ask the ultra sad curly-haired ticket staff and she will unwillingly help you. Give her a flower and kiss too. Might work.

For $35, your membership gives you four pop corns and discounts on shows. It's worth it. And feel good for supporting the arts and the documentary family.

The best seating is upstairs where you can see the entire screen. There is always a bit more privacy lovers!

I was reluctant to get the membership but I'm glad that I did. Come and be informed of social issues and be the walking Wikipedia in parties. Just be prepared to get your car tire slashed.

You gotta love the walking and talking Wikipedias.See you in the movie!

THEhotel at Mandalay Bay

The word is a-w-e-s-o-m-e.

It's an all suite hotel that offers magnificent view of either the mountain or the strip. While hotels' concierge (except Days Inn's lol) have always been helpful to me, The Hotel's level of service is one of the finest. The service matches those that of The Phoenician or other luxury properties. Matthew Reed was the concierge that efficiently helped me.

This is far away enough from the college kids crowd on the strip gambling during their spring break. Have you been to Excalibur? It's a different world. Here, you won't smell like pot.

Hungry? There are over 30 restaurants to choose from in the nearby Mandalay Bay. And if you are a high roller and want to gamble, Mandalay Bay is attached to it. You won't hear a lot of "blings" though - I am not sure if their slots give money away and I don't think that casino is their business. Unlike other hotels like MGM or The Mirage, there isn't a lot going on. When I was there, there were no shows aside from House of Blues. But they are 10 minute cab ride away. Or 20 minute walk. You'll burn off those fat you gained from Border.

The room... clean and pretty. A living room with huge flat screen TV, three seater sofa and a desk so you can work. Wifi is free and comes with the $25 resort fee. Throw the silky pillow on the floor, it feels weird and your head will slide down. Inside the bedroom, there is a big tv, slippers, robes and a lot of hangers. The bathroom is beautiful. The shampoos smell great.

The beach... oh the man made beach... is packed with beautiful people AND it's fun. There's a wave pool too!

I was here for a conference and it's a hike to go the convention center. You can rent mobility scooters for $80 and be like grandma. Wear hills at your own risk but don't wear sneakers (it's illegal).

Come come and you'll enjoy it! Show owner comment »

I don't know how to describe this place... ah... limbo. It's in between good and bad. The patrons range from the homeless to Bay street trader. Mostly live in the neighbourhood. Occasionally, some noise-resilient students come to hoard chairs...er... to review for exams.

Line up in the morning is usually long but the servers are fast. My order came so fast that I thought I was in Chinatown. It takes less than a minute to get and serve you your coffee. It's the penny counting by customers that hold up the process. The place is small and not ideal for group meetings and this is too busy, and noisy, to have a sit down conversation. The coffee is well... taste like Tim Hortons.

BUT they are efficient. Very efficient. If you drink coffee like water, this is your place. Coffee lovers, stay away. Coffee drinkers, come!

Il Fornello

Call me a snob but this restaurant needs an upgrade. Think former beauty queen cat lady. Or former quarterback dirty old man.  They used to be beautiful... not anymore.

Right in the heart of theatre district, Il Fornello lacks in showmanship. The silverware, the menu, the appearance and even the menu card are just dated. After being there for an hour, I feel like I have grown a moustache. Yes, moustache, it's so Miami Vice.

There's no soup for the day... it doesn't change. If went back tomorrow, I would find the same tasteless celery (I think) soup. I used to eat at Il Fornello after gym to gain back the fat I had lost (Ha!) but now I find it boring. Either my palette has matured or their quality has just gone bad.

The Pizza, oh the healthy Gorgonzola pizza for sure taste like Gorgonzola along with Gorgonzola after taste that cuts through your nose.

This place is good for lunch, but not for dinner. Don't come here if you want to impress your client, you will lose the account.

The Canadian Stage Company

I am a theatre lover. Been to broadway many times and Canadian Stage is comparable to broadway productions... just less chaotic. Depending on the theatre and production, audience generally have positive vibe. The ticket prices aren't cheap so people who come to see the shows are here for a good time. And we are treated nicely.

Also known as CanStage has offered plays, musicals and plays that appeal to different audiences. I'm not excited with some of them but I get to explore different types of productions. That is what theatre is about - invoking interest to productions we would have not known. Being a subscriber sort of "forces" me to see most of their shows.

CanStage plays a vital role in Toronto's art scene. And they have wonderful staff eager to help subscribers with every questions. Yay!

I am not impressed. This restaurant is not particularly expensive but it's not cheap either. The food does not taste great. I've been to better Italian restaurants within the same price point. My friends, however, disagree and think that food here taste awesome.

Is it my Asian taste bud? Or my snotty taste bud... Not sure... I am confused.

The atmosphere, however, is business casual. Meaning, it's good enough to impress a girlfriend without being too intimate and without putting a hole(!) in your pocket. But your date here will be forgettable so bring in nice jokes to crack if you want to impress your date. Be very funny.

I will not come back here. But if my friends drag me here  again... I'll wait for them outside. Or at Insomia close to Bathurst which has better pasta.

Meh...
