It's been well over a year since my bean-dar spotted Elysian. After all this time, I FINALLY had the opportunity to check it out.
My report:
It's everything I expected and more.
This cafe is a TEMPLE to coffee!!
Excellent coffee prep's and choices, well informed and helpful employees.
One who saw my disappointment over the lack of seating when the four of us arrived. Suddenly a table became available. She made it happen. I said to my friend, "do we have VIP stamped to our foreheads?"
One bonus star added for complimentary bubbly water served to customers while they wait for their orders.
One more for a well noted Wheat and Dairy free item in the showcase.
LONG LIVE ELYSIAN!!!!
Hip hip HAZZZAHH!

In all fairness this would be a two and a half star review.
This potentially cute, corner shop is a typical Vancouver neighbourhood convenience store with the oldskool sign, bars and too many adds on the windows, crooked floors and poor lighting. They carry all the basics with out over-charging you for your shopping list shortcomings.
The owner seems really nice, we've basically watched his kid growing up, from the vantage point of our balcony. There are always a variety of plants and flowers out front decorating the place but I really wish the building would be upgraded. I keep visualizing a small cafe inside with a nice bench out front
but for now, it is what it is, with some pretty strange people & things happening in the residences above the store. I'll keep dreaming of the improvement and maybe one day it will happen.

I ran into Donald's to grab a few things real quick, when through my blurred tunnel vision I caught a quick glimpse of the newly opened Tea shop.
I whirled to a stop and decided to take a time out. I couldn't believe my eyes. I asked the guy at the lovely Tea counter; 'am I hallucinating?' he was so cute and patiently described the variety of teas they have available at this Express location. Donald's you are full of surprises! What a great addition to this busy corner and another reminder to take our time in life.
The only problems that I see are that shopping requires two hands, and that there is no where to sit. They need a bench or something.
Shop first, tea after, take your time. :)

While at Dr Salvino's office, I couldn't help but notice the wall of paper files behind the desk, I asked how many doctors work from this office? She said just the one. My eyes bugged out like Arnold Schwarzenegger in total recall. I said 'there must be a thousand files behind you!' she said "it's more like five thousand, there's more in the other room".
Oh Canada, my home and native land..... what happened to your health care system? Where are all the doctors? What have you done?!
