Seeing as us Islanders don't have an events tab this is where I shall post events. *sigh (This is not "my" event, but has been copy and pasted from the FB page)
Start Time: Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00pm
End Time: Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 12:00am
Location: The blocks buffering Bastion Square - from Fort to Yates and Douglas to Wharf
Email: victorianuitblanche@ca...
Description:
For one night... museums, galleries, cinemas and public buildings in cities across the globe stay open from dusk till dawn as revellers celebrate Nuit Blanche.
In Victoria, we're starting on a slightly smaller scale and putting out a general call to interested parties to help transform the heart of the Victoria by using streets, lots, rooftops and shared spaces into a backdrop for art, light and sound.
Intentionally informal, this will have no civic blessing and leave no traces. While installations may permanently colour perception, they will not alter property.
ARTISTS WANTED! If you're inspired or even just interested in sharing a project - please do. Human sculpture, singing, sidewalk art, spoken word poetry, light installations... whatever you want to serve up for the eyes and ears of others will be welcome. IF YOU HAVE A PROJECT IN MIND, please send title of your installation, planned location and a short, delicious description of your project to victorianuitblanche@ca... by Friday, November 13. Artists may choose to remain unnamed, but we'd like to help ensure their works are not unknown.
AFICIONADOS, save the date and spread the word. Check back for a map and playlist to accompany the installations after November 13. Plan to bring your camera and post photos of what you find.
