After reading all the great reviews about the Udon here (and I LOVE udon), I was really looking forward to eating at Konpira.  However, when I walked by 680 Broughton today, it was under renovation and said a new Tibetan restaurant was coming.  What happened to Konpira?!

Yeah, they closed just over a week ago. I don't know the reason myself. All I know is I tried them for the first time the day before they closed and I didn't know noodles could be that amazing. Very very sad it is.

Yes, Konpira is closed. They closed last weekend. Mr. Noodle (the owner) had to retire for personal reasons. He was sad to go and even kept the place going an extra week instead of just shutting the doors until the new owners take over.

Isn't that heartbreaking?! I LOVED this place. I only went three times, but it was really damn good. I'm so disappointed. We need a noodle master!

Sadly yoshi has retired and closed konpira due to health reasons. He will be sorely missed along with his amazing food.

Best hot Japanese noodle dishes I've tried (now that konpira is no longer) would probably be at Sen Zushi - their goma-miso udon (I think is what it's called - hot udon with a creamy sesame sauce and chicken breast) is really delicious.
