Hi Victoria Yelpers!

It's official -- me (Community Manager for Yelp in Vancouver) is coming for a visit and I'm packing gifts for Victoria Yelpers -- but there's just one thing -- I don't know when or where to host an "Unofficial Yelp Event" aka UYE.

So, if you're game, would love to hear your suggestions, find out about the coolest places to go and then, you know, have a bevvie or two (or coffee, or brunch, or lunch) and have some face to face time with you guys!

I'll be in town Thanksgiving Weekend - early Saturday morning to late Monday night...

    Hi Crystal,

    One of my favourite places to go in groups is Ferris' Upstairs. As long as you can reserve the couches its a great spot for mingling and seat hopping. Plus they have chocolate martinis with brownies on the rim! I believe they are closed Sunday/Mondays so it would have to be a Saturday night thing. Other than that I also recommend the Tapa Bar for drinks and groups. Other than Ferris' downstairs my lunch and brunch spots may be too small. I've never been to one of these things. How many people would usually show up?

    Just found out as of Sept 15th Ferris' Upstairs is now open Sunday/Monday!!!

    Gah! I'd love to come to a Yelp get-together, but I'll be going out of town for the weekend (being thanksgiving and all :S)

    That being said, I can still give you some suggestions on some places to go:
    For nightlife, the only one I can think of that might suit a group would be Canoe as it has a decent amount of pub space, though given Ferris' has couches, I'd defer to Christine on this one.
    For coffee, I'd recommend Serious Coffee, the one on Broad is huge as coffee shops go and I've never really seen it crowded so seating shouldn't be a problem.
    For breakfast, I'd say Floyd's Diner. I can't admit to having been there, but it has a very good reputation and I think it is the biggest of the really good breakfast places.
    For lunch or dinner, I'm afraid I can't think of any place that's big enough (or with seating that can be rearranged easily for groups) that wouldn't be crammed to the rafters with holiday weekend tourists (though if you guys pick a place that does reservations, you can get around that). If the weather is nice maybe go storm the dock and hit Red Fish Blue Fish. If not, maybe Romeo's would be suitable, though I've never been in one.

    That's my two (or three or four) cents on it. I wish I could come. You guys have fun!

    @Christine - In Vancouver we get anywhere from 5-40 people attending our events. I'm not sure how many will be attending in Victoria - so a pub atmosphere with the ability for it to grow a little is always great!

    I'm thinking that Saturday evening would be a good time, maybe 5-7?  And Ferris' sounds yum with chocolate martinis!

    It would be great if you could all spread the word - you know, email your friends on Yelp and beyond, send some compliments etc. And let me know if you think 5-7 is a good time, or if we should do earlier or later :-)

    The only time I'm available is Monday from 12-2:30. Sorry, that's so lame. But I'm out of town friday-Sunday, and thanksgiving dinner with parents Monday night. But Crystal, I'd love to meet you!

    I'm totally down for a Monday lunch! How does 1 work for everyone? I know Beth had suggested lots of different places, but Rebar stood out to me (mostly because I have their cookbook and want to try the food I always make at home) but I'm completely open to other options too.

    Let me know... oh, and if other yelpers are still down with Saturday - I'm happy to do 2 UYEs this weekend!

    Welp, I can't make Monday... gotsta work. I'm still down with Saturday, but I do work until 6, so 7ish would be best for me :) I hope we can work it out.

    7 is perfect on Saturday at Ferris's. I've heard so many good things - I can't wait to try it out... now, where are all the other Yelpers gonna be? Invite your friends from Yelp and from your social circle. The more the merrier!

    Here's the Events (oh and I have I mentioned, first round is on me???)

    Saturday: Ferris' at 7 pm for drinks

    Monday: Rebar at 11 am for brunch

    Table for 2? Apparently this is a busy weekend for people. I should be able drag the boyfriend...

    Also Ferris' at 7 may be vague seeing as there is the upstairs and downstairs. I love both, but they are very different. Upstairs is more loungey meaning more drinks less food on the menu. I'm down for either

    Oh, I want in for this too! But I'll definitely be there in spirit! Christine had mentioned that Smiths (did I get the name right) is a good little pub spot (when i asked where me and the Mr should watch the game on Sunday). I noticed it hasn't been reviewed yet... wink wink :-)

    You are all lovely and I bet would have some fun times together!

    Thanks for being so awesome to me and my first visit in ages to Victoria!
