So after chatting with yelper Dave S about pub crawls, it just seemed fitting that we plan out a Dive Bar Pub Crawl!

But first some input from everyone:

Where would you wanna go?
Who has the best beers on tap? Best specials?
Who has live music? And is it any good?

    Astoria , Pub 340, Funky Winkerbean, The Ivanhoe, The Princeton, The Cambie

    all in the same area, all except the last 2 have live music on weekends. The Ivanhoe live band is pretty hilariously bad, they do covers of classic rock songs all night

    I forgot all about the Legion! Also agreed about nixing the last two, the Cambie is waay to busy on the weekends to be bothered with, and theres no real reason to be at the princeton, it's just sort of gross.

    Are the Waldorf or the Fraser Arms dive-y enough to qualify?

    Dive bars are a dying breed in Vancouver.

    I've never been to the Fraser Arms, but the Waldorf wins huge dive-points for the TV poker/keno games they have going on the TV all night

    this is the best conversation - i love it.
    when i lived in Calgary we had a pub crawl called "the crummy" and we went to all the dives and wore free beer tshirts and scrunchies. it was awesome!

    Free beer t-shirts should be the official dress code of the evening  :)  I'd be hard-pressed to find a scrunchie though...
