Where's the best pho in the city? And can you find both Northern & Southern style pho in Toronto?

I've only been to Pho Hung, Pho Pasteur and Ru Vuang/Golden Turtle and all three were dynamite.

As far as I know, only Hanoi Three Seasons carries the Northern style.  It's a little more tame on the flavors, but still good.  If going to Hanoi Three Seasons, you don't want pho anyway -- you want the cha ca (fried fish).

Best pho places are in the burbs (Scarb, Markham, and Miss).

I was literally just reading about Pho Linh - it only has one review (for shame!)...

Neil, I just read your review on Hanoi - has the Leslieville location opened yet??

Kat, did you really get vegetarian pho (even the broth) at Pho Hung or Pasteur? Would be very interested if so.

  2. 7/13/2009 Kat "don't get me started!" F. says:

Well, I was TOLD it was vegetarian. But like I said in my latest review (Kenzo) I can never really be too sure at Asian restaurants. It didn't taste beefy, at least to my pallette. Otherwise, the pho at Golden Turtle is certified vegan.

I highly doubt the broth was veggie, especially in pho.  The essence of the broth is a bunch of random meat bones.  haha.

Neil, you're totally going to turn me into a meat eater, aren't you!!

The Green Bamboo on the south side of Sheppard Ave just East of Midland Ave. is really good.   The lunch combo is inexpensive, very filling and tastes great.
