If you're itching to get some FTRs (First To Review) under your belt, there are a bunch of new restaurants that have recently opened that don't have reviews yet. But nevermind that...what are some newly opened restaurants you've been dying to try?

I want to check out the new Gourmet Burger Co. next to 7 West - Mike S has already reviewed it!

Do you ever just get overwhelmed with all the new places opening up?

    But I'm dying to try Tati, which has been reviewed here, which recently opened in the old Kensington Kitchen space.

    I don't get overwhelmed. I generally don't like to visit new restaurants as soon as they open because they haven't found their stride yet and the servers are too green. (Going to Ame too early just confirmed that.)

    And since I've only been in Toronto for a few months, every restaurant is new to me.

    FYI.  There's "Burger Bar" opening tomorrow on Augusta a few buildings in from College on the east side.  At least, that's what the sign out front claims.  Replacing "Rice Bar".

    Paramour just opened near us on Ossington next to Delux. The menu is posted outside and I thought it looked kind of pricey. Cheapest dish was a $9 salad. I think the first place I want to try near me is Double Deuce Saloon. That sounds awesome!

    There's another "Burger Bar" opening this Monday (Nov 2) between Fran's and Starbucks on College/Yonge.

    I'd like to try Burger Bar too. I went in yesterday and talked to Brock, the owner, and it looked cool. Decor is sort of 1980s Ponderossa.

    The old Stem Diner on Queen/Spadina near Horseshoe is going to be a Burger Quality Meat Shoppe (there are two existing locations, one in Riverdale and one on Ossington).

    A third Smoke's Poutinerie is opening three doors west of Gandhi Cuisine on Queen @ Bathurst.

    Greg C and I just discovered this - a new Neapolitan pizzeria with a wood burning oven is opening at 1402 Queen Street East, next to Red Rocket Coffee.

    No idea when but this is pretty exciting news!

    A quick report from non-Yelp friends who should be on Yelp RE: Chimichanga 70 Yorkville Ave

    The guacamole was made fresh at the table - really amazing !

    We both loved the staff - the kind of place when the owner manager asks your name and introduces himself.  We also appreciated when we asked how the coffee was they said honestly not good.

    Oh and one more....Rodney Bowers sold his resto The Citizen to Lynn Crawford (chef & Restaurant Makeover Chef) and the redheaded designer from the show.  They've partnered up.  The resto is sched. to reopen in March.

    @Kat, I had eaten at the Citizen.  How ironic is it that Rodney bought it, had it redone on Restaurant Makeover by Lynn & Cherie Stinson....and they end up buying it.   It was a big deal for Rodney at the time because the schtick was that he used his wedding money to have the makeover done.  Now Rodney and his wife have a show on tv called "Marriage Under Construction".

    Also keep an eye out for a new spot on Dundas called Quatrefoil.  This restro is owned Chef Georgina Mitropoulos who trained under the michelin starred chef Marco Pierre White up at Scaramouche.  Betcha that'll be a good spot.

    re Great Burger Kitchen -- hope it works out for GBK on that wasteland strip, but it doesn't bode well that the proprietors use a hyphen incorrectly on their fancy signage. this drives me crazy whenever i see it . . . why can't a business that wants to make a splash proofread its own material professionally? i would agree, though, nice typeface.

    There's a new spot that will be opening up in a few weeks next door to Cowbell, over by Mitzi's Sister, on the hardcore Parkdale end of Queen St. W. called Parts & Labour.   It's quite a large space and will seat 120 and also host live music.  The word on the eat-beat is that the chef at Oddfellows will be cooking here.

    Just walked by this - new coffee shop on Gerrard between Pape & Jones called Grinder, opening soon.

    Crepes & More opened today on Ossington two blocks south of Dundas, next to Ideal Coffee. Hours are early - 7:30 - 3 M-F and later on Saturday. Looks like a good addition to the strip!

    Snakes & Lattes has a facebook group too. It looks like the owners owned a similar shop in Montreal but moved it to Toronto. They have seriously hundreds of games it's crazy.

    It's right down the street for me so I'm definitely up for checking it out soon. I was thinking Tuesday eve (Aug 31)

    It looks like they also do food and have applied for a liquor license

    @Sam: They have Church's out west.  I've had it, it's not bad.  Kind of like a mall chinese food version of a KFC/Swiss Chalet hybrid. You pick your chicken then they ahve all the sides laid out salad bar style.

    That particular building doesn't seem to be doing well either, I remember when it was Dooneys (before T-Cafe) about 2 years ago. Considering it's a corner lot with a nice little patio, i'm surprised. I looked at the menchies website and it looks awesome though... self-serve ice cream and toppings and you pay by weight! awesome.
