what do you feed your cats?

our girl is 16 and we were not the original humans so she took awhile but seems to approve of us (after 5 years) but this girl never ate dry food and will not touch it and her previous humans gave her a lot of table scraps so she gets bored very easily with the lowly cat food
we have gone the realm of cheap and dirty to quite expensive

lately we have been buying some quite expensive imported cat food from New Zealand from Whole Foods can you believe it??? and she went nuts over this stuff but now I can kind of sense she is starting to grow tired of it

Hey she, we too had a super-finicky feline before she passed away at 17, but she really liked something called 'Sheba' which has 'real' meat in it.  We bought it at Loblaws, so I'm sure everyone carries it.        A trick to get her to eat her dry food!  We bought tuna packed in oil, which we ate a lot making sandwiches & such.  We used to pour the extra oil on her dry & she'd devour it.  Give it a try.

Paul's idea is a good one - but may I suggest using that's packed in water, instead of oil. Just pour the tuna water on, but  not too much or too often because it can be a bit salty.

That's hairballs, & I was told the oil would help them pass easier, or give her less trouble bringing them up on our rug!  Bless her pointed little head!  LOL

My cats will eat just about anything.. which may sound good except it means they will eat just about anything that fits in their mouths, even if it isn't classified as food.

I know a lot of people have luck with "Spot's Stew for Cats" which can be found at Pet Smart or Global Pet Foods. It is basically the texture of stew.. gross to look at, but actually a pretty decent food nutrition-wise. Lots of cats don't like cold food, either - so if she's really finicky you may want to buy the small cans and give her a fresh one every time, though I know that gets expensive.

I wouldn't worry too much about her not eating dry food at this age - cats need lots of water and they get it mostly through their food. I like incorporating dry for their dental health but I think its something you have to start them on really young.

she is not fat even though she eats a lot
I think the dry food makes cats and dogs fat
