Planning on running away to Kingston at the end of the month... Any ideas on what to. Looking for beach or park for picnic; top 40s club for dancing and cozy spot for breakfast/brunch.

If you like micro-brews, check out the Kingston Brewing Company.  They have a lovely selection of casks, seasonals, and draughts.  The food is reasonable too for pub fare.

I try to stop in for a pint every time I pass through.

I know you didn't ask for dinner/pub suggestions, but as it's one of the few places I know in Kingston, that's all I have to offer.

Kingston has one of the coolest Busker fests along the waterfront.   One great resto...the Chien Noir.(the Black Dog)   Great food.

I've heard that Chez Piggy is fantastic, too.  http://www.chezpiggy.com/

Kingston has some amazing Cambodian restaurants. Not sure what the best one is at the moment but if you ask around hopefully someone will point you in the right direction.

Let us know where you end up.  I'm heading to Kingston at the end of August.

  4. 7/20/2010 Tony "tells the truth, even when I lie" F. says:

Cambodian Village for more hole in the wall but better food.
Penom Penh for a sit down restaurant.   Both are located next to each other.

    Chez Piggy.

    Clubbing @ AJs or Stages.

  5. 7/20/2010 sarah "it's a juggling injury, shut up" l. says:

Luke's is a crazy gastro restaurant.  His mom runs the front of the house and he cooks.  It's extremely fantastic.

  6. 7/20/2010 Susan "Feed Me, I'm a Tamagotchi" Z. says:

I lived in Kingston for four years and am hardcore foodie.  I pimped my body for food money.  Mariko M. had to take our kids away and marry a tow truck heir from Oshawa.

    Anyways:

Luke's for dinner (check their hours, it's weird)
Pan Chancho for brunch/lunch (Chez Piggy is a more $$ & shittier sister of Pan Chancho)
Royal Angkor for Cambodian/Thai (real deal, real spicey)
    Sleepless Goat for coffee/cake/dirty-hippie watching

And a long walk around the lake/campus.

Kingston was beautiful! What's not to like?  Everything within walking distance, nicest service people I've ever met, great restaurants and water, water everywhere!  Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, watch for my reviews on the The Goat, the Wolfe Island ferry, 4-points Sheraton and others!
