I'm moving to Ottawa in a short while, and I'd like to hear from anyone with reliable advice on neighbourhoods to live in and to avoid. I work downtown, and I want to be able to walk there in 20 minutes. It would be nice to have ready access to small fruit and veg markets, bakeries, that kind of thing. So Centretown? The Glebe? What say you, Ottawa Yelpoids?

I live in the westboro area and love it. U are close to welligton which has great testurants stores and cafes, as well a bus station called tunneys pasture. Downtown is really close I am not sure how long it takes to walk there but I know my friends mom works downtown and is able to walk home..hope this helps:) remember just off of Scott avoid areas like codwell

If money is not an object, I would have to suggest the byward market would answer your needs. It is just a short walk from the downtown core where all the drones live during the day. The market as you could tell from its name, is market area where vendors sell their goods in street stands during the summer. There are many restaurants and bars.
Another areas to consider would be lower Elgin street, and the Glebe. Westboro is also a great area but really within walking distance to the CBD. do check-out that area If you bike or take the bus.

Parkdale market area is my favourite in Ottawa, up to Island Park drive. Nice shops and restaurants. Close to the River Parkway and the pedestrian and bike paths.

On the Quebec side, I recommend Aylmer where I live. It has more of a small-town feel as opposed to suburban sprawl with unchecked development.

Richmond is awesome but it is 30 min away from downtown
