I'll be in Ottawa this Sunday and I'm wondering what to do with myself!

I'm thinking about the Museum of Civilization and/or the National Gallery, but I have seen them both a few times.

Any hidden gems that you care to share with me?  Good lunch and dinner spots?

Also, are taxis readily available when needed?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

I was not sure about replying since it's now Wednesday, but then I looked at the date and you haven't had your Sunday here yet!

The Museum of Civilization changes some of their displays around once in a while, so there may be a few things there that you haven't seen yet. It's always a nice place to visit. There are a couple of other museums worth checking out. The first is the War Museum. Since they've moved it from their old location beside the Royal Canadian Mint they've been able to bring out much more of the artifacts that they had closeted up.

Another museum, and one that you can bank on, is the Currency Museum. They're open from 1pm to 5pm on Sundays. It's also located conveniently within walking distance of Parliament Hill. It's a small museum and won't take you long to get through it all.

As for food, depends on your budget and tastes. I've always wanted to try the Sunday brunch at Zoe's Lounge in the Chateau Laurier. The dress code is smart casual and I'm pretty sure the food there would be excellent, but it's $39.00. If you're in the mood for some decent Mexican food, Ahora has as 87% approval rating. They're located in the Byward Market on Dalhousie Street. There's also Chez Lucien on Murray Street. They have an 89% approval rating and is a pub food type place. All this information is from 'urbanspoon'. I'm trying to think what I would do on a Sunday in Ottawa with no car....

Taxis are available when needed. Blue Line is probably going to be your best bet in Ottawa. Sometimes it takes a bit for you to get connected to dispatch, but that's what happens with taxi companies in most places!

Wow, Eric!  Thanks so much for taking the time to write all of that out for me!  I really appreciate it!  I'll take all of that information along.  I'll report back on Tuesday and let you know what I ended up doing.

I do think I'll do the Museum of Civilization again.  I just love that place.  Just sitting in the Great Hall and soaking up the atmosphere is worth the price of admission.

Thanks again!  All of your information is very much appreciated!

    How was your Sunday Carolyn?

I had a great day, thanks!  I shopped around the Byward Market for a while, then had a long, leisurely lunch with some friends at Dunn's. We then dashed off for a whirlwind tour of the Museum of Civilization,
then dinner at The Prescott, then caught the show at Absolute Comedy. It was a great day, and a great weekend!  I'm heading back to Toronto tomorrow morning. Pout!!!

Goodbye, Ottawa!  I'll be back soon!!

Thanks so much for your ideas. Next time, I want to try the $39 brunch!
