Simon B. says:
Make sure to go to the old port for some nice pictures, where you'll see the stoned streets that supposedly make montreal so european (taste a beaver tail, while you're at it). Make sure to have some poutine (regular) at some point, and go on top of Mont Royal for a classic view of the city. For breakfast, try one of the "Chez Cora" restaurants, and try the outdoor farmers market "Marche Jean-Talon". It's a local favorite, and cool picture opportunities there.
In terms of pictures, I would also make sure to go walk around the plateau mont-royal and st-denis street, with tons of little cafes in the art of mainstream/artsy montreal. Don't spend much time downtown.
All this is pretty touristy, but don't hesitate to drop me a yelp message if you have some more questions.
P.S. This website is pretty cool for discovering less touristy stuff: http://www.madeinmtl.com/
