Heading to Montreal oct 3 - 8 and most of the time will be at a conference.   Any advice for bargin hunting for women's clothing and boots. Any insights on the La Canadienne flagship store? Tourist spots to see in summer/fall that I miss because I usually get there in winter?

I plan on hitting the biodome area on Wednesday - special local places for breakfast or lunch?

Staying at Four Points by Sheridan and conference at Conference Center - should be close to the pedway if it's raining. Any good coffee joints and/or local shops to visit?

For women's clothing I suggest you check out Bedo. For bargains, go to Metro Namur and you'll find a place called Le Chateau Outlet and the Bedo outlet..

Le chateau outlet: 255 Jean Talon O, Montréal, QC H4P 1X5, Canada - (514) 341-5301 (ask them where the Bedo outlet is but it's a couple of blocks north on Jean Talon you shouldn't miss it)

You also shouldn't miss the Eaton Center for shopping.

Don't forget to try a poutine!

Also, check out Crescent street. It's full of tourists and bars, you shouldn't miss it. There's a great restaurant there Weinstein's and Gavinos. Avg price for a dish is around $15, it's not bad and excellent quality.

PS - If you don't want to go all the way to metro namur I just realized Bedo has several (smaller but still good) outlets. Call them at this number to find the one closest to you: PH: 514-287-9204 . You can also go to their non-outlet stores but it's not cheap!

Thanks! I was afraid no one would respond - the Montreal boards are quiet, so I really appriciate your help.

I've had the pleasure of traveling to Monreal quite a bit (and toronoto as well) so I've had the poutine before. I've attended the Highlights Fest in Feb for about five years and really looking forward to fall! I'm hoping the Jardin Botanique is still lovely.

Now if I can just find La Canadienne boots on sale - life would be dern near perfection!

    Hi Malissa!

If you are into music and festivals, there is a great one going on this weekend: Pop Montréal (http://www.popmontreal...)

Also, I strongly recommend that you hang out on St-Denis St., Mont-Royal St., Laurier St.,: this is what's called the Plateau, which is the heart on Montréal's French community.

If you want to get physical, you could also climb the Mont-Royal: with the colors happening, it's going to be beautiful.
Check out my profile for ideas of brunch and goodies!

    Have a nice trip!

saloon is a great spot for brunch, and i hate brunch (though mostly because i'm from nyc and it's always too crowded and it involves too much waiting)  they have some amazing eggs benedict.

It is always amazing! My only regret is not getting out to the Botanical Gardens and the Tower during daylight hours. I did enjoy the Japanese Lantern display and St Joseph Oratory!

Oh, and I didn't get to eat dinner at Le Joilfu again :(   perhaps next trip!

I JUST got back from Montreal after a 3 week business/vacation trip. I miss my home town :) but not the weather.

If you want a decent shopping experience without having to worry about parking check out Rockland shopping center. Many of the stores that are downtown, but indoors, and free parking.

I'd definitely try and eat at Gibby's on D'Youville if you want a great dining experience.

Entirely depends. Could be cold and snowy, could be cold and dry, could be not so bad.

If you plan on spending time outside, then yes, it's a bad time of year. If you're going to be indoors, then any time is a good time of year :)

ARtic can be fun and enjoyable! My favorite trip to Montreal was in Feb and it was snowy and near blizzard conditions. Their metro system was perfect to get around, the underground was there to get around downtown and cabs were friendly and plentiful.

But then again, I'm wrong in so many ways; I love winter!
