I would say La Banquise holds it down quite well and they are open after the bars close

Just had poutine with mushrooms at Le Resto Du Village last night and loved it. They are 24 hours, 7 days a week, too...

  2. 10/13/2008 Matthew "R U calling to Order or Complain?" A. says:

I second that. THe Resto Du Village has the best poutine in Montreal as far as I am concerned.

    2/8/2009 DAVE I. says:

Depends how much you want to spend. Because at Le Méchant Boeuf they have what I think is the best poutine ever concocted in this universe. Charlevoix poutine with braised pork, Migneron cheese. That's right. Fries - the best I've had in years by the way - with braised pork and Migneron cheese.

  3. 2/22/2009 Mathieu "MJ" B. says:

    In Montréal my Top 4

    1) La Banquise
    2) Au Pied de Cochon (Poutine au Foie Gras)
    3) Frite Alors is really impressive for a Francise.
    4) Bowfinger (cheap, big, excellent fries and sauce!)

But the whole point is simple. Brown sauce (the REAL thing) is done with Reduction of Brown Chicken Broth.
Daily fresh curd Cheddar and blench fry cooked in a proper oil. The best is Peanut Oil or if you're richer: Duck Fat.
As a Chef, I can tell you this is the only Magic on good poutine.

I just recently went to Cafe Local on St-Viateur and had a Poutine with pulled pork. It was pretty good.
