I'm moving to Halifax soon and need some local help please!?
Can you recommend an area that's artsy, hip(ster)/indie, safe, and pocket-friendly for renters? Ideally, somewhere with young professionals, but more grad students (close to the universities), great coffee, pedestrians, bikes, and public transportation.

Thank you in advance!

Two areas that you should consider:
    1) Quinpool Road area (either North or South of Quinpool - it's more of a student ghetto to the north)
    2) South end - area bounded by South Street, South Park Street, Barrington & Inglis; there are some affordable places south and west of here but fewer.

    Good luck!

Quinpool has had a lot of new restaurants open in the last 18 months. Close to downtown core.

I would suggest the north end. Agricola/ north filled with artists and studios and indie shops. If u are familiar with Toronto i can only compare it to west Quees west.
