In the US, Angie's List (which does service reviews, not restaurant and entertainment) requests you state whether you actully bought or used the service. They only use ratings from completed customers, but they do post reviews of others who did not patronize a business due to attitude, expense or bad arrangements. Perhaps Yelp should consider a similar distinction in reviews with a similar question. That way, people would consider your comments, but it would not be fair to use them in the overall rating since you did not actually eat there.
