Hellooooo there and greetings from Texas! My parents, grandparents and I are coming to Calgary this weekend, all day Friday-Monday. I would love some suggestions on what sites to see or major "Canadian" things we should try out!

Also, are there any cool things that we should see/visit that's around Calgary or possibly 1-2 hours away? We went to Banff last time we were in town (back in 2002) and are looking for other touristic things as well. Thanks!

Hey there, from one cowtown to another. I'd recommend Calgary Folk Fest, which just happens to be this weekend. Head downtown, to Eau Clair Market / Princes Island Park, and there is bound to be some cool stuff to check out. Otherwise you can head to Heritage Park (mini-village dedicated to pioneer life in the 1800s) for a half- or full-day.  If you're the walking type, ask around at your hotel or at tourist info places for some good hiking - an hour west of the City (near Banff) is Kananaskis area, which is just replete with awesome trails and beautiful views, for hikers of all abilities.

    Hope that helps! Have fun!

Waterton is a nice town only a couple of hours away, while it has some banff charm, it is still a little more of an untouched place in the great Alberta area, A place to check out for sure!!

Sorry, I didn't see this in time...I would have suggested a trip east out to Siksika Nation (my Rez).  While there you could visit the Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).  Or check out my list:  http://www.yelp.com/li....

    Safe travels.
