My friend and I are trying to plan a surprise birthday dinner for our friend but we don't know where to go. We've had too many dinner parties at Japanese and she's not much of a fan of Korean food. My friend and I thought about going to maybe Broken Plate or before Reef n Beef. But we want somewhere else....any suggestions? Please help!!! The party is on march 28th, but I have to inform and book the place by March 11-15!! Please help!!

    Hey Vanessa,

    How about the following restaurants:

    - Chinese - Tai Pan, Forbidden City
    - Chinese Hot Pot - Regency in Chinatown (I think they still have hot pot)
    - Thai - Ruan Thai or King & I
    - Italian - Centini's - a little pricey
    - Indian - Royal India (near Chinatown)
    - French - Piq Niq Bistro - for after hours, how about Beat Niq downstairs?

I'm not sure what your friend likes.  :o)

All very good suggestions, and for Thai, I must add: Thai Sa-On is the best Thai in Calgary.

Oh, and stay the hell away from Broken Plate.

haha why so bitter about broken plate?

my friend told me she wants.... ramen and takoyaki..
the only places i can think of are sushi kai (in dragon city mall) and shibuya (beside bubblemania on 16 ave)
i haven't been to shibuya or a while... and sushi kai's sushi aren't as good as they use to be....any suggestions?
