This store is the first place I go when I need to buy a gift for "the person who has everything" or "the person I don't know well enough to know what they want." Just walk in and start talking to the guy behind the counter and ENJOY!
The guy behind…More »
This $5 lunch can't be beat! Don't let the long line outside scare you, because the staff move through people quickly.
The place is now called Extreme Taste, FYI.
For such a small place, and a small budget, it's surprising how many options there are.…More »

Very affordable sushi in normally expensive Yorkville. The service is always good, in fact, the last time I went I had the friendliest server who loved trading stories about our pets. I recommend the sushi pizza especially.
Just thinking about this place makes me drool like Homer Simpson. Sooooo goooood.
I have only ever had the shawarma there because they are perfection. Seriously. And so cheap. Shawarma dinner is plentiful, with rice, potato and salad, so I generally…More »
Over the Rainbow is the only place I will go to buy jeans. I swear. I was in Boston this fall where they have no tax - I repeat, NO TAX, on clothing - and I went to the True Religion store and couldn't find the heart to shop. All I could think was,…More »

I have been getting my hair cut at Taz for a few years. I always go to Kozeta, who is super sweet and really knows what to do. She knows I am conservative and don't want anything crazy, but she still pushes me to make changes and I always like what…More »
Went for an early after work dinner with a couple of friends. The food was very good but the service was weird.
First off, the VERY macho server asked us if we had heard the specials. We answered No and he said "there are no specials". I think he was…More »

Why are so many people who poison themselves to look "better" (?) customers of a "healthy" grocery store? What is with the huge selection of unhealthy snacks at a "wholesome" supermarket? These and other questions come to my mind whenever I visit…More »

It has been a little over 24 hours since I had my facial and eyebrow threading here, and I look like a mutilation victim. NOT what you want!
I may be being a little overly dramatic, but seriously, the threading and eyebrow tweezing was a NIGHTMARE! I…More »

Reliable place for a nice Italian lunch in Yorkville. One of my favorite dishes on the menu is the very good Nicoise salad, although they give it an Italian name - insalate di tonna or something like that. Anyway, it's very good. The pizzas are also…More »

Lots of lunch take-out options, all very fresh and unprocessed. I am conflicted because the prices are high for lunch take-out.
Sometimes I go to Dinah's, look around and don't see anything that catches my eye, but some days, I do. On those days, I…More »
