I'm two for two with our recent stay at the Sunset Inn in Vancouver.
This place is amazing. I'm staying a walk away from the gondolas to get to Whistler Mountain with a washer and dryer, fireplace, full kitchen (pots and pans too!) Free wi-fi, huge…More »
On Christmas day, after coming down Blackcomb from the Horseman's Hut (epic ride and view!), I stopped by the closest bar to the bottom, which happened to be Dubh Linn Gate. As the world's fastest pounder of ICB's (Irish Car Bombs) this is the place…More »

This is what a bar should be on a mountain. Lots of gin and whiskey, good beers, good bar food, a fast, friendly bartender, and some good people to sit and talk with.
With the wife out at the spa, I was kicking it at The Keg which has been across…More »
With few options for a haircut at Whistler, I found this one buried down a little alley way.
Place was busy but they carved me a mohawk. Dirt cheap for a quick job and really fun too. She spent way too much time on my 'hawk.
Place was jumping with…More »
Some of the best resort pizza I've had. In the Festivus Spirit, I brought down a pistol of Pyrat rum and shared it with the guys down there stuck on Xmas Eve.
Pizza was whipped up quick and was super tasty. The pizza wasn't over cooked, lots of…More »
What a difference from the other location. I got some sick deals on a jacket (been looking for a good mid-weight jacket for a few months) and got the Oakley Smuggler jacket that helped me get a ton of contraband back over the boarder and some great…More »
I'm not a resort guy, but Whistler is Whistler and you have to go.
The mountains are huge. Epicly huge. And the sheer number of people make it feel a whole lot smaller.
Guest relations doesn't do much either. We booked a bunch of stuff way in…More »
Contraband isn't cheap. And when your home country has a trade embargo against a country that is almost as old as your parents, it can get damned expensive.
But a friend of mine who enjoys cigars has a birthday in a matter of weeks and the…More »
Unfortunately I didn't buy anything here, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. I've been looking for something between my windbreaker and my North Face blizzard, -40* C, down and puffy with fur lining jacket for some time. Went here to see if there…More »
Great late night place to kick it. We came in on X-mas evening and a DJ (a damn good one) was playing old school rock and mash-ups amazingly well.
The hot wings were redonkulously hot. Like Cluck U's hot, if you've had them in the Bay Area.
Beers…More »
This really is the tale of two very different expereinces. Both my wife and I had booked months in advance a holiday treat for us with a couples message knowing we would have spent a ton of time burning the hell out of our legs on the slopes. We…More »
Tim O. nailed this review. Just the two of us were hanging on for dear life as the current of people rushed through this place. Still, being in a resort town and being able to get a X-mas ham, stuffing and all the trimmings is damn cool. Produce…More »
I kinda feel bad giving them only 3 stars, but Intrawest just makes me want to vomit.
So they screw up this reservation (again) and we reschedule. Now instead of going out in the morning, we're going late afternoon. Ok. That's cool.
So we meet…More »

Excessive is right. So much so you can hardly move about and the place was seriously understaffed. Prices were also pretty damn excessive as well.
They did have a ton of gear, but going on a Sunday night evidently is the busiest time of the day. …More »
Meh is right. I'm still looking around for a porter or stout beer, does anyone know its winter!?
Bartender was in attentive, nice they had darts and a few TV's with the WJC games on and Sports Centre on was well.
The bar stools were also stolen from…More »

Meh is right. On a scale of 1 - 10, this would be a 3 at best, so 2 stars is about right. Place was dead with its so-so selection of beer and not much life going on. Who cares about cheap beer besides punk children…More »
Seats were really high so kids were crawling around constantly. The "theater" we were in had 6 rows of 12. Small! Films were still on reels and I had to asked twice to start ours. 6:40 show didn't start the ads until almost 6:55!
Still nice to get…More »
Anyone know how to say "quad espresso" in Canadian? I don't, evidently.
*sigh*
Tim Horton's is getting better and better, they need one in the Village.

Drunk as hell and I wanna get ill so I go to a place where my homeboys chill...
Which sure as shit not this place.
I should have known by the sheer number of drunk 19 and 20 year olds that this wasn't the place for me. But pizza sounded sooooooo…More »
This really is Fortress Investment Group, specifically an asset of their Castle holdings (http://www.fortressinv...). Looking for a quick buck, they bought some mountains back between 2004-2006 and are now stuck with them.
In my opinion, they got…More »
Waste of a store. They were rude to the wife while she was looking around and places that aren't at least decent to the wife don't get my money. End of story.
