We had dim sum here in Richmond, BC before heading back to Seattle. We didn't have anything out of the ordinary and stuck with the basics. They do it right here and let you order off a checklist, so the steamed goodies don't get tepid before serving.…More »

Purported to be the #1 Pho in Vancouver, I found the broth overly oily and one dimensional. The broth even had impurities floating in it, but we did come right at opening so maybe the owner wasn't ready yet.
The Pho here is apparently northern style,…More »

I asked Chowhound what Vancouver did better than SF and the answer was a resounding, Izakaya! So our first day in Vancouver we had dinner at Guu with Garlic, one of the many izakayas on Robson St. We arrived quite early and snagged some bar seats.…More »
MACAROON REVIEW ONLY
So I'm not a big fan of the creme puffs here but my SO spotted some other bakery items in the back and I was tempted by the macaroons. They had a bunch of flavors but chocolate is my favorite so I thought, why not?
Well, this…More »

XIAO LONG BAO is the reason to eat here. I queried Chowhound to find the best place in Vancouver for XLB, and the consensus was Lin's on Broadway. They're freshly made every day and the thin skin paired with the perfect broth inside the dumpling made…More »

I gotta give 5 stars for the dolphin that kept jumping up to say hi to me. Everyone started to crowd around as he came up above the surface and eyed me several times. Then just when the dolphin got everyone to come close and surround me, he swiftly…More »

Really hip izakaya in a more contemporary setting than Guu. The menu features more expensive ingredients, but still a good value for the quality.
We tried the pork belly which was awesome, fresh spot prawn sashimi (out of the tank fresh), Karaage…More »

Definitely a must stop if you're visiting Vancouver. The line can be long for this creative Japanese take on the hot dog. We all had the Kurobuta pork Teri Mayo, which came with fried onions, and slivers of seaweed atop the Japanese pork dog. With an…More »

Pho Quest (54)I appreciate a good pho broth. A broth more about the essence of the beef bones it was cooked with a light undertone of onions to complement and slightly sweeten the broth. I'm not too keen on too much anise or cloves, the less the better. This perfectly balanced pho broth should induce you to eat slowly, appreciating the savory goodness, and drink the broth to the last drop.... Oh yeah, fresh beef is a must! |
