I went here to pay my respects to queen Victoria. I grew up under queen Elizabeth when I was little, and I have special respect for all queens.
Growing up, I WANTED to be the queen. Well, I am a queen now, but a different kind.
A nature lover's dream…More »
I died and went to dim sum heaven.
I trekked all the way from downtown to this part of town just to eat here. I read great things and I wanted to try the various specialties. I was greeted by a lovely lady who seated me immediately. I took a quick…More »

All you need to know is one thing: shower night.
Sweet mother of Jesus, why can't they have such an event in Chicago? Thursday nights are shower nights at Odyssey. I was expecting amateur boys getting wet, more like a wet t-shirt…More »

One word: DeBakon.
It is their version of bacon. Looks more like sliced ham, but it is bacon.
I went here for a Viking breakfast before embarking on my tour of Stanley park. I was also hungry after a wild night of checking out the gay bars, and needed…More »

What do tourists do when they are visiting? They do "touristy" stuff.
I was a tourist visiting Vancouver. I went to see Stanley park. I was too lazy (read, tired after having a wild time the night before) to check out Stanley park on foot.
I have an…More »

Great location. Beautiful views. Comfortable bed. Clean sheets. Clean bathroom.
Wait, why am I speaking like a robot? Snap out of it.
I stayed here for 4 days/ 3 nights. I was given a room on the preferred guest floor. I had a magnificent view of…More »
I loved it enough to return for dinner the next evening.
It looks like a divey Korean restaurant... and guess what? It is. I expect horrible service at divey ethnic restaurants. I don't expect them to be at my beck and call, that is what upscale…More »
A local Chinese/ Cantonese chain restaurant. Seems to be quite popular with the lunch hour crowd and tourists due to its location.
I ordered the lunch special. A selection of one soup, one entree, and a small bowl of rice. I got the vegetarian…More »

Quite average.
In a land of great Asian food, this restaurant sticks out as a Mexican hooker on the northshore.
They advertise themselves as serving Thai and Malaysian cuisine. I ordered the simplest of the dishes: Singapore noodles. It was OK, did not…More »
Simply the best! (15)Just like the famous diva Tina Turner's song "simply the best, better than all the rest... better than anyone" |
Capital-istic (20)Fantastic capital city. My exploits in the wonderful capital city and suburbia. |
Chicken soup for the soul (19)Entertainment comes in many forms. You wanna be a cabaret star, get emotional at a play, join a cult... I even found myself on a roadtrip! In the end it is all about "chicken soup for the soul"! |
Downtown living (10)I am a Loop dweller. I have never been happy in any other Chicago neighborhood. |
Playin' it safe (42)The 3 and 4 star ratings. It's like you are almost the best. |
Chicagoland aka suburbia (2)Not all suburbs are dreadful. I would probably visit more if there is a flight service from ORD or MDW :-) |
Adventures around NY and NJ (6)Some places I visit to escape from the depressed locales of NJ and Long Island. |
Mr. United Nations (19)Back in the day, when I was wild child, I used to be known as Mr. United Nations. Not for the food, but for the number of flags on my bed post. Now that I have grown past my wild days, I am trying to keep the title by eating through various ethnic foods. |
Brokeback Mountain (3)Yes, I went there! I went to Wyoming to become a cowboy. Failed miserably at becoming a cowboy, but enjoyed my time otherwise. |
Date night (24)As much of an old couple we are (6+ years), we still do date nights often. Dress up, pick a proper place, the whole thing. One of the agreements we have in the V-P household is that we have to fly out for date night at least once a month. Hence, the various out of state places in the list. |
