Update: Tried carnitas and cabeza. Cabeza was tender and gelatinous but slightly bland. Carnitas was good, not greasy, and crispy on the outside. It went well with a squeeze of lime. Grilled onions were excellent. My favorites are the al pastor and…More »
Excellent Tacos Al Pastor, served from the spit! However, the green salsa is thicker and creamier at the Oakland branch. Or is it a branch? The worker said they weren't related. 5 stars for the tasty pastor goodness.
Holy Mother of God.. Chili heads listen up!
They've added a habanero salsa to their lineup, complete with a handwritten warning that says "Very Spicy, Eat at your Own Risk". Of course I had to try it and let me tell you, they are not kidding. I only…More »

I tried the El Taco De Oro taco truck today and had four tacos. They are $1.25 each and come on 2 griddled 4" tortillas with cilantro, onions, and salsa. The tacos had a good amount of meat for the tortilla, especially considering the price.

WOW! I thought the store was very clean & organized and had a great selection of food. The taqueria had pretty good al pastor tacos @ $1.25 for the smaller tacos. Super Burritos were $3.99.
They had fresh chicharon, carnitas, grilled chicken, birria,…More »

I went today and tried cabeza, carnitas, and al pastor. I liked the cabeza the best, juicy and beefy. The shredded carnitas was a tad on the dry side, but had good flavor. Al pastor was heavy on the allspice, I prefer subtle seasoning on al pastor,…More »
Dammit I think I went to the wrong one since the one on 22nd seems to be rated higher. But I was in the neighborhood when I spotted the truck, so I had to stop and try the taco al pastor. The pork pieces could have been more tender but the…More »
Came here before the Cal football game at AT&T.
I had the $4 al pastor taco and the $5 pescado taco. Both were bland beyond belief.
Totally unsatisfied.
Please season your food.
3.5 stars.
Prices are *slightly* higher than Oakland, but I'm just spoiled like that. Tacos are $1.50 and burritos are $5, super burritos are $6.

Update: Carnitas taco... Holy moly son of lard! This was some greasy goodness! It had me burpin flavorly for a few hours after.

I was in the area so I stopped by today and got both barbacoa and pierna tacos as well as the consomme. I would've preferred a grilled tortilla, these were large yellow corn tortillas I think. I liked the pork better than the beef since the beef…More »

Not bad, not great. I had the Burrito al pastor and I've had better al pastor elsewhere. However, rice and beans were pretty good. I like how they offer black beans. Free chips and salsa were nice. Salsa wasn't too great though, very generic…More »

I have to go agree with everyone here, this new taqueria is great. It's hard to find a taqueria that offers free chips (that aren't stale or oily), and a very good salsa bar to boot.
I ordered the pastor, carnitas, and cabeza; my…More »

I was drunk last night. I usually like most food when I'm drunk. But the Al Pastor Burrito I got last night was NASTY. I didn't even finish it. Tough, flavorless meat. I think I got a slice of pizza afterwards. I'm surprised I even remembered…More »

This review is for the taqueria part of Otaez... The tacos are relatively cheap but small at $1.25. My favorite choice of meat is Al Pastor (marinated pork) but it's not my favorite here. The grilled chicken, however, is very good. The fish is…More »
Decent al pastor burrito. The green salsa was excellent though, nice and spicy. With a name like El Burrito Supremo, I thought it would be an americanized taqueria. However they have all the different meats (lengua, al pastor, abodabos, etc), so I…More »

I rounded up because they have free homemade chips here and a nice salsa bar with freshly pickled jalapenos. They were nice and crisp, not mushy from sitting too long. The chips were slightly thicker and crunchier than I'd like but I guess…More »

I tried El Ojo de Agua's al pastor taco and didn't like it. The pork pieces were crispy on the outside, but the pieces were so small, the crispy bits overwhelmed the meat itself. The pastor flavor didn't jump out at me, and the standard guacamole was…More »
I don't remember the al pastor being that great. So 3 stars. This is not a convenient location either, a bit difficult to get to.
Overpriced, overhyped. Tacos for yuppies, I would say. Why don't they have al pastor, the benchmark of taquerias? Cheese in the tacos was a bit much. I like mine plain and simple. Meat, onions and cilantro, just like in Mexico!
I wouldn't come here if I didn't live in the area. That being said, it's a pretty decent burrito but I wish they had more salsa choices. I end up going home and piling on more of my own jalapenos and hot sauce...Don't get the guacamole.
Tried the seafood tacos here. They're going for a healthier variety of tacos here, as no lard was evident in their cooking. I guess I'm partial to the unhealthy kinds where they brown the fish on the sides (in a little lard) since they're better in…More »
I stopped for lunch at this little taqueria after hearing raves about their carnitas. The place definitely had that authentic feel, with the murals, the patrons, and the blasting music. I went for 3 tacos, to get a good taste of their meats.

Very well constructed burrito. It kinda reminded of when I used to eat Taco Bell burritos, but in a good way, like how all the ingredients melded together. This is the kind of burrito that will make me want to start eating more burritos than tacos.

I'm not too keen on too much anise or cloves, the less the better. This perfectly balanced pho broth should induce you to eat slowly, appreciating the savory goodness, and drink the broth to the last drop.... Oh yeah, fresh beef is a must! |
