Mind's Eye is a lovely little shop, bursting at the seams with yarn. But there are a handful of other yarn stores in the metro Boston area, and the selection here is not extraordinarily different than most.

The difference?

What don't I like about Beadworks? I often get the "friendly" vibe from the employees, but it's a rare day that they can answer my questions (can you special order things? when will the next shipment be coming in?). I wish the store stayed…More »

In a perfect world, there would be a fabric store that carried cute, affordable prints, home decor fabrics, had friendly customer service, and a great location. Fabric Corner really tries to be all of these, but falls just a touch short.

Awesome, awesome. Go here.

I'm a fiber junkie, and this shop was like walking into heaven. Spinning fiber in the most luscious varieties, in gentle, naturally hand-dyed hues. Beautiful yarn, some hand-spun, some milled, and all dyed by the owner, who…More »

I was visiting Chicago for a few days, and chose the day of torrential downpours to check out yarn shops in the city. I tracked down Nina's first, after a recommendation from Ravelry,  saw the door open and headed in.
Not so fast! Turns out, the…More »

Oh Woolcott. 32 years in business, and now you're leaving me. It's out of preemptive nostalgia that you got that extra star, you know, but you really are A-OK by me.

I really am loathe to write a one-star review, especially for a yarn shop, but it has to be done.

Sew-Fisticated rocks my budget. They have lovely print cottons at $3/yd, and you can usually find really nice wool suiting at a great price. The real advantage to Sew-Fisticated, though, is the pricing of their accessories. Everything is just a…More »
