Getting to and from the mountain can be a pain, but once you finally get there it is worth it. The sheer size of this resort is incredible and you get to ski or snowboard BOTH mountains. I only wished I lived closer and the USD to CAD exchange rate…More »

Squaw Valley is one of the largest and best ski resorts in California. Traditionally I have avoided this place due to the fact I heard it is SUPER crowded on weekends, so I was pleasantly surprised when I visited this resort on a "busy" Saturday.…More »

I was glad to able to snowboard in late April up here in the Portland area, usually the snow in California (Tahoe or Mammoth) is gone by April and most resorts close down. For me the best part of this ski resort was the lack of people! It was MUCH…More »
Since there are many reviews here already, I'll keep this short. The reasons why I'm a fan of this place is one: the location, only a 30 min drive from Reno. Two: the lack of a crowd, even on a busy Saturday the lines for the lifts are no more than a…More »
Its more like 3.5 stars. Yes it can get fairly crowded at times at Northstar (especially on green and blue trails), but if you adventure to the backside (mostly black diamond trails) the runs are long and wide with very few people. The part I hate…More »

My experience with Alpine Meadows has been a great one. This resort is fairly easy to reach; it's about 2-3 miles past Squaw Valley on highway 89 (off I-80). The best part about this place is the crowd, or the lack thereof! Yes, even on a busy…More »
Good slopes for skiing but not for snowboarding... too many FLAT areas. Also very crowded on weekends since the gondola is right next to the Hotel/Casinos of Stateline, NV. However, if you can venture to the Nevada side you can avoid most of the…More »
Better slopes for snowboarding in South Lake Tahoe than Heavenly but also very crowded since the resort is pretty small.
Stats: 2000 acres, 46 trails, 12 ski lifts.
Snow season up in Oregon starts way earlier than in Tahoe. Good slopes but can get VERY foggy at times.
Stats: 3700 acres, 71 trails, 13 ski lifts.
Outdoor Adventures (10)Get out there and enjoy some nature. |
