As a player on the University of Chicago's women's club ice hockey team, I call this rink home. And it's not a bad rink at all for that.
Here are the positives: it's one of the few rinks on the southside, and it's close to the University of Chicago.…More »
This review is mostly for the rink, as I haven't used the other facilities. The Skatium is by far one of my favorite rinks to play on in Chicago, First of all, there are several rinks, which means not as much jostling for space, and you can get games…More »
Besides being a little hard to spot from the road (at least the rink . . . it doesn't look like a rink), this place is great. We had a game up here a few weeks ago. When we walked in, we were greeted by a huge crowd of middle schoolers, who were kind…More »
This review is for the ice. I'm just going to comment though--walking past the pool in winter is a little ridiculous--there is this massive polar bear water slide, and the slide goes between the polar bear's legs. This has led my teammates and I to…More »
I APPROVE.
We had a game here last Friday night against the Vixens (which we won, btw). The arena itself has great facilities: a pro shop that does sharpening (though they took a while with one of our centers, and she ended up not getting to play…More »
I write this review after playing one of the worst games of my 13-year hockey playing career here at Glenview. It was Friday the 13th, and our whole team lost a game we should have won by a lot AND one of the team captains cars broke down.
However,…More »

I admit, I almost rated this a 4-star rather than 5 because at $10, Rat Hockey at JIH is by far the most expensive in the entire Chicagoland area. But then I remembered:
-It's the only rink in central Chicago
-Great house leagues
-Gunzo's is one of the…More »
Okay, this rink is a complete dump. The edges of the ice are uneven, and we've lost pucks in the area where the Zamboni comes in. The locker rooms are tiny, and REEK. The staff is poorly organized, there are no concessions or vending machines to…More »
Reasons why I like this rink:
-great ice
-multiple rinks, and FANS WHO SHOW UP TO YOUR GAMES FOR NO REAL REASON
-late-hours proshop (they were open until ten last time I was there)
-Good concessions, GREAT vending machines (no, seriously)
-clean locker…More »
