Rich B's guide to practical parenting

See All Lists
At an aspirational level, parenting is about creating a loving, nurturing environment in which your child can thrive, learn and realise their full potential in order to become a successful and respected member of their society. At a realistic everyday level, parenting is about coming up with ways to wear them out every day so you can get them to bed at a reasonable hour in order that you can preserve your sanity until they become wealthy enough to support you. This list is about ways to achieve the second while giving the appearance of being mainly interested in the first.

Maple Grove pool is way further for us than dear, departed Mount Pleasant used to be, but it's worth the trip on a warm sunny day. A great, lagoon style pool, perfect for younger kids. Just over a metre deep at most, it's not a place for swimming…More »

This is a fantastic pool in a stunning location. It's a great place to take the family - the entire pool is no more than about 4 feet deep and it has 3 water slides of varying degrees of difficulty.

While the pool itself and the view is idyllic, its…More »

Minnekhada is a beautiful pocket of almost-wilderness in the northeast corner of Coquitlam. Only 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver, it offers a great selection of short family hikes over easy to moderate terrain and some beautiful views.
