Reasonable Beltline Food Places

If I'm in the area and need some grub, and don't really want fast food but still want to spend something reasonable, these are the places I think of first.

This place is primarily all about the beer.  They brew many varieties in-house for their patrons, and if you really wanted to, you can order kegs for private parties by talking to a manager (my office did this one time for our Stampede Party; we got…More »

This is a great place for college/university students to congregate in.  The place is really popular in Calgary; the patio is packed during warm, sunny days, and it's difficult to get a table in the late evenings.

Ironically, I didn't visit here much…More »

I can't speak on the entertainment or social aspects as I've only been a few times and usually never when there's anything on stage (although they do have live jazz every Saturday, and it sounded great the one time I managed to catch it), but I *can*…More »

The Poutine here is excellent. Veal gravy, raw cheese curds, very authentic.  In fact, all the food is excellent.  The vast majority of it is locally sourced, and it shows.  They have daily specials (in the sense of limited quantities; they may only…More »

Hidden Gems (3)

The places that are either out of the way, unknown or unheard of, or are pleasant surprises. Criteria are good value for the money, and high quality rivaling some of the best that Calgary has to offer.

It's Totes the Best Hun Cal Froyo! (1)

Places in the city to get your frozen yogurt fix. Disclaimer: No guarantee they're 100-calories. :P

Pub/Food Based Meeting Places (7)

I volunteer A LOT. Sometimes, it can be difficult to find meeting places for small groups (3-8 people) that a) serve food, b) don't mind you staying more than one hour, and c) are quiet enough such that you can still have discussion and collaboration.

Here are some places I've found thorough trial-and-error and through personal experience where I can hold group meetings reasonably.

Photography Shops around Town (2)

If you need equipment and have to source it locally, here are some of the places you should hit first.

Places to Veg Out (6)

If you're looking for places to essentially loiter for longer than an hour with friends or a laptop, try some of these places.  They don't give you evil looks if you stay too long. ;-)
