This place is inside the mitsuwa marketplace. Parking is hard to find around lunch time, it's like a game of chicken with cars coming the opposite way to see who gets the parking spot opening up. Driving around and looking for a parking spot is…More »
Just as good as the one on the west side, if not better. As usual, I got the shio ramen, not to be disappointed. I have to admit the soup is a little salty (for my tastes--but I hear this is how they like it in Japan) but I still can't help but…More »
i try to go to ryowa everytime i visit my hometown. i mean there's plenty of good ramen places in LA but ryowa will always hold a special place in my heart. i judge a lot of the ramen here with respect to ryowa's sesame flavor ramen. it's like a…More »
Sit at the bar if you can. You get to watch the guy steep the noodles to perfection. And sweat.
Half size is perfectly large if you're going to order other appetizers and what not.
Noodles the way you want : hard (think al dente), regular, soft

Yamadaya joins the list of restaurants that cater to the ramen lovers inside of all of you that love to slurp and chew your way through a delicious bowl.
Right when you arrive, you should write your name down on the list and wait patiently. Then,…More »
What a bizarre place to have a ramen house. It just seemed more residential and I wouldn't expect to find a restaurant there.
That being said, the service is superb. The water was always filled and the food came out promptly. We got the cold tofu…More »

Adding Minca to my list of favorite ramen joints.
The noodles are perfectly chewy and have a good tenacity to them. The spicy miso is piping hot and intense in all the right ways that soups packed full of flavor should be.
The shoyu is also quite…More »
I forgot to write a review for this place the last time I was by. It was probably one of the first meals I had with the bf, and I remember amazing him with how much food I could pack away. I don't exactly recall what he ordered, but I ordered the…More »

after a late night of drinking, you'll find me lined up to eat here. the ramen is pretty good for this side of la. don't get the tanmen unless you absolutely love a mountain of vegetables on your ramen. otherwise, stick to the chasu, the shoyu.…More »
i think the definite way to go is tonktsu ramen... it's pretty good for the area. my all time fave (so far as it is ever changing) is santouka since the broth has a fuller heartier taste. this place is more like a neighborhood joint with gramps…More »
Good thing I didn't have ramen on my trip to Asia. Or else, I might think the ramen here is trash.
It isn't trash. It's a pretty decent bowl of ramen on the fly. Think fast food. Its like how a burger from in-n-out can never be as good as a kobe…More »

When it comes to ramen, I think there are a plethora of better places to eat at. However, Orochon does have its own appealing flavor and its moments.
Do not come here for the best bowl of shio ramen, ever, if you are like me and that is your thing.…More »
One of my best friends told me this place was better than Santouka.
I don't think we can be friends anymore.
Had both the special, where they only have 12 bowls of per day, and the regular. A lot of bone flavor, a lot of fattiness, a good piece of…More »

The soup broth isn't nearly as good as I had more than a year ago. There is definitely not as much flavor packed in - it feels a little watered down. It is still a huge bowl of piping hot ramen goodness, but it's definitely gone south.
For those of…More »

This place reminds me of Suehiro in Little Tokyo. The American diner feel with the padded booths and old diner decor. Except Japanese food served by Japanese ladies.

Tsujita is synonymous with long lines at lunch time. Artisan noodles are the culprit of that.
The tsukemen definitely steals the show when compared to the ramen, which is a bit lackluster as compared to the yamadaya, shinsengumi (Torrance),…More »

Shio Santouka SD is not the same as shio Santouka LA. Maybe it's not fair that I'm making the comparison, but my review from West LA/Irvine to SD jumps from 5 stars to 3 stars. I mean, probably it's a four star place for SD, BUT it's not a 4 star…More »

Meh, is all I can say.
Great service, you get your order fast, and it fills the stomach. It's not some of the best tasting soup, but after I bombarded it with garlic and chili paste, it was delicious enough to satisfy.
