I'm an idiot and forgot the name of the place where I usually park (MVP Parking) and was in a huge rush and it was the middle of the night and I was about to get next to no sleep. So I booked my parking there online because it was the cheapest. I…More »

I've been there once and it wasn't great. And unfortunately will be back again, but it's to see a friend's performance so this is for her, and to see some other friends also attending. After that, screw this place.
I just made the reservation and…More »

This place has been open for a while and is 1/2 a block from my bf's place but I've never stopped until today because the place just doesn't look terribly inviting or comfortable with the folding chairs and teeny tables. Decided to finally give the…More »

I don't think I've ever left a restaurant so pissed off before coming to Thai 65. The food is mediocre, definitely not a stand out among all the Thai restaurants in the city. But let me tell you about the service.
After my meal, I walked over to the…More »
You know I had just finished upgrading Watertown from 2 stars to 4 stars, and writing a bunch of stuff about how much they had improved and being honest and descriptive like a good Yelper. I was starting to like the place so much I was going there a…More »

As a Seattle resident who grew up in Vancouver BC, I make a lot of trips over the border so I know the duty free stores, both north and southbound. This place is big and fancy looking but everything (except maybe a cup of coffee) is a total rip off.…More »
I came here after going to Olympus Spa in Lynnwood, WA and loving the experience there. Boy was this ever a huge step down.
Granted, we came before they started on some big renovation but, still, if they're going to be open for business and charge me…More »

I was getting all excited to post my disdain for this place but apparently most people have already got that covered. I've been here twice. The first time was a few years ago when it was packed and there was hip hop (ugh) and it was a celebration of…More »
So I came here this weekend with a bunch of other PhD students as part of a women of color retreat at the Seabrook Cottages in this idyllic/creepy/charming/histor ically-inaccurate prefabricated "historic" ocean town called Seabrook.

It should not take a half hour to ship a couple small packages on a weekday morning especially if there are only about 6 people in line. I don't think I've ever seen people move so slowly. It's almost like they TRY to be slow, like there is some sort…More »
I had the worst bowl of ramen I've ever paid for at Boom Noodle. And, ironically, it was the most I've ever paid for a bowl of ramen. This place is clearly all style and no substance. The broth was absolutely tasteless, it wasn't nearly hot enough,…More »

My friend purchased his used RAV4 here from Vancouver BC so it was pretty much a matter of just signing a few things, double checking the condition of the used vehicle and taking off, or so I thought.
So I drove him to the dealership and the dealer…More »
I don't typically eat Mexican food in Seattle period. After living in California you sorta learn not to in order to avoid disappointment. But my friend picked the place probably because there is a parking lot there so we went. I got the rice and…More »

I went back a third time and the last. My entree was tasteless and once again took forever to arrive. Lucky the drinks came fast enough to dull the hunger pains. Starvation always makes the food taste better once it arrives too. Yeah no 4th chances…More »

Ohhh Taco Time, so much better than Taco Bell yet so bad. I actually find the prices a bit steep especially for the little schlop of a chicken bowl I got last week. And damn is the inside (and outside) of that building ever 70s depressing.

OMG they took so long to make my pita I thought I was going to collapse on their grimy floor. My chicken pita was pretty tasty but was a big sloppy mess that dripped all over the tray. For $7 I'd rather go to Le Bambou up the street and get the…More »
Best of Capitol Hill (30)My favorite little spots in Capitol Hill, my favorite neighborhood. If you're from Vancouver, I'd say it's a mix of Davie and Commercial Drive. If you're from the SF Bay Area, I'd say it's a mix of Castro and the Mission (minus Latino influence because Seattle is pretty darn white). |
Must sees and dos if you're visiting Seattle (11)I think I've answered the question, "what should I see/do in Seattle on my next trip" a couple dozen times, ditto for Vancouver and San Francisco where I've also lived. So here's my list of must sees, must dos, and must eats for Seattle. So far I've covered some of the eats. I will get to the must do and must sees soon. |
"I feel good. I knew that I would, now" (9)Places to go to feel good. |
Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, BC (7)Vancouver BC is the mecca of good Chinese food. My parents think it's because so many of the top chefs from Hong Kong immigrated to Vancouver when HK was handed back over to China. Whatever the reason, there's no better place for Chinese food. People (e.g. Eugene at the last Elite event at Two Beers) often ask me where to go since there are tonnes of Chinese food (and other ethnic) restaurants all over Vancouver (and Richmond) so I'm going to start a list just for you folks. I grew up in Vancouver, most of my friends are from there, and my family is still there, so I should be able to come up with a good list. |
Japanese food in Seattle (6)I'm from Vancouver BC and later San Francisco, so I'm a picky eater of Japanese food because I've been spoiled silly in other cities where it's more popular. Hence, this list is short. |
