Trying to eat more in the neighborhood brought me over to the second location of Pizzeria Deflina.
The kitchen was having a really good night, and our Purgatorio pizza with sausage was probably one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. Brian was…More »
New Neopolitan pizzeria in the Westfield.
The Margherita was really nice. The thin crust had a nice balance of crispy and chewy, with good charring from the wood oven. Sauce was really good and good proportion of cheese.

Yet another new pizza spot but for it's first week, this place is off and running, with no hiccups. Chef is from Picco in Larkspur, using proper Italian "Zero Zero" flour.
The cocktail program is top notch, I had the High Smolder, a spicy Tres Agaves…More »
Awesome thin crust style pizza in this tiny spot in the Richmond. No wood oven, but the 600 degree gas oven delivers piping hot, crispy cornmeal crusted pies. The margherita pizza was awesome, tart tomato sauce, with a nice amount of cheese and…More »
Finally got a chance to revisit this spot, being so hard to secure reservations. But we were hungry at 10pm so we got a rezzy easily.
We started with the mint chitarra pasta, which was nice and light, perfect with the dungeness crab. The pasta itself…More »
This new Italian joint serves up some tasty pizza and pasta. We shared the Uovo pizza, which was… Read more »
Tried the margherita pizza in the mission location of this popular joint. The crust was slightly doughier than I imagined, but nice and chewy. The cheese was chunkier than pizzetta 211's pie and delfina's tomato sauce seemed more of an unadulterated…More »
I had a slice of cheese here and the crust is definitely NYC thin. But the sauce was lacking, and they didn't bake it hot enough either so it was so so for me. I like A Slice of New York in Santa Clara better.
Better than Zachary's for 2 reasons:
1. Crust
2. Tomato Sauce
The crust is much crispier than Zachary's doughy pie, due to the cornmeal crust and a proper baking time & temperature. Little Star's tomato sauce is definitely less tangy than Zachary's, and…More »

Great ingredients on a nice thin crust pizza, no meat though.
Totally sexy ambiance here. Perfect for drinks and bites.
I always order marinated sardines when I see them, and Gitane's are the best I've had. Fresh and boneless, they had the perfect amount of acidity and the fresh parsley was a great complement.

Small space in the Mission, serving excellent Italian fare.
We shared a few apps but my favorite was the chicken liver crostini alla toscana. I'm a big fan of chicken liver, but especially when the liver flavor is nice and subtle, and here they do it…More »

I had their 2 slice lunch special today, a great deal at $3.75. Add a half pint of any beer for $2.50. Slices are bigger than Cheeseboard's or Arizmendi's and the meat options sets this place apart. The crust is thin and crispy and the sauce to…More »
We had the Orgasmica pizza. Nice thin crust, perfect amount of cheese, and tasty toppings. So good, I ate 4 slices.
Quite a different world when you step in here from bustling Clement St. Still bustling inside, but way different crowd. Great…More »
The real deal. Perfectly thin crust. Good cheese. New York accents. What more do you want?

Ordered delivery from here and the pizza looked like it was a day old, reheated. Needless to say it tasted like crap.
Seriously?

Not bad. Our pizza could have used some salt. I can't remember much since I was so happy from sneaking a bottle of wine (screw cap) in from Cost Plus World Market.

I've been a here a few times and the most recent we mistakenly ordered the Aloo Tiki Burger thinking it was beef (I know, what were we thinking!). It was actually quite good, perfectly fried with good spiciness. I tried adding sriracha on the burger…More »
Cool spot to grab a slice in the Sunset. They open real late, hangover prevention I tell ya. I like the chicken pesto.
Blue Bottle Coffee served with a smile. They have coffee and toast with jam in the AM and this morning the barista was extra nice.

Zachary's is now our default office pizza lunch. Ever since a coworker bought us Zachary's, our manager won't get us any other kind of pizza. I guess he's scared we might think he's cheap.
I've had the chicken, mediterannean, and chorizo. The…More »
5 stars because I like this Arizmendi better than the Lakeshore one. They have more selection of savory bread snacks in the morning. Curry bread, mini pizzas, different types of focaccia, etc. The lone option of cheese roll at the Lakeshore store…More »
Similar in style to Arinell, heavy on the cheese with not enough sauce for my taste. Our large sausage pie was HUGE, more than enough for 3. Some slices had crispy crust but others were soggy from the excess cheese. The outer crust was too thick for…More »
Just like next door, Tony's does this style of pizza justice. With the only coal oven in northern California, he gets as close to NY style as you can get.
Bravo!

Pretty good crispy pizzas at this Beretta spinoff. Margherita with Burrata is always a good choice. The pies are served properly hot here, which Berreta seemed to fail at.

Pho Quest (54)I appreciate a good pho broth. A broth more about the essence of the beef bones it was cooked with a light undertone of onions to complement and slightly sweeten the broth. I'm not too keen on too much anise or cloves, the less the better. This perfectly balanced pho broth should induce you to eat slowly, appreciating the savory goodness, and drink the broth to the last drop.... Oh yeah, fresh beef is a must! |
