Still the same stars for the review, but the brewery is no longer open most Saturday's. They will occasionally open, so like them on Facebook. It seems the city of Charlotte wants more money from them when they open their doors as a retail…More »

Siam Garden - I have seen your coupons in the Fort Mill/Tega Cay quarterly for years. I have seen you when traffic forces me to take a backroad detour to work. I never met you until today.
Siam Garden appears to be a very clean restaurant. A 98…More »
CLOSED :( Feel bad for the owners and employees...they were good people. I think the location hurt them, as did Red Ventures moving to SC.
We have been eating Topz since they opened. They offer Angus burgers cooked over an over flame,… Read more »
So, the Checkers practice and train here, and even played some playoff games when Bob Johnson's daughter's horse jumping show took over the uptown arena. They still play some pre-season games here and did that yesterday and today.
The facility is…More »
Oh, I 've worked a half a mile from this free standing building for over 10 years. Several different restaurants have lived and died here, but I had not been inside this building until today. Previously the closest American Mexican restaurants were…More »
With the wife's family being from Albermarle, I have passed Reed Gold Mine dozens of times but never visited. I knew the history of it, which is that this is where the first documented discovery of gold in the US occurred in 1799. A boy found a…More »
I remember when this new tiger sanctuary was trying to set up shop in Chester County near Rock hill. The locals feared that the animals might get loose and damage livestock, so the county never allowed it. The owner ended up finding a closed down…More »
It's taken me way too long for me to write a review of Ella Art Bakery. Ella did our wedding cake nearly two years ago. This is one business that if I could give 6 stars, I would.
My wife found a picture of wedding cake in an online bridal…More »
The Catawba River is a very scenic long but narrow river, but there are very few points in the Charlotte region where the general public can view it or access it easily. The Riverwalk Trail opened along it about a year ago in the shadows of recently…More »
Thanks to Groupon we decided to eat dinner here before the Charlotte Checkers Pink in the Rink game. Not even a mile from the Panthers stadium and uptown, it's conveniently located without the hassle of being in uptown proper. This was our first…More »
Not bad not great. Better than Papa John's, Domino's, etc, but not as good as Libretto's or Papa Murphy's. Pasta dishes are ok for a late night meal, calzones are decent too.
Definitely A-OK. It has been several years since we had been here, but the gorgeous weather and the great view from their 2nd floor patio gave us a reason to come back. Even though one side of the patio faces a gravel parking lot and a Greyhound…More »
Uptown (18)Locals called it "Uptown" as far back as the 50s. Turns out most of uptown sits on a ridgeline and sits higher than the surrounding area. So here are some cool places that look down on everything else. |
South of the Border (22)Places in Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Tega Cay, Indian Land and others on the SC side of the Charlotte area. |
5 Star Reviews (10)Here are a lot of 5 star reviews, with the highest recommendations and must do's at the top. |
Local and Craft Beers in the Metro Charlotte (15)This will list places that offer locally brewed beers as well as specialty craft beers for all of us "beer snobs". |
Good for Kids (29)Not necessarily good for adults, especially for those without kids. |
All Aboard! Places to Stop Along the Light Rail (15)Get a day pass and hop on! Cap off the evening with a Checkers or Bobcats game! |
NC Music Factory and Its Establishments (4)The Factory has become a really cool spot with concert venues, bars, beer gardens, and nightclubs. I prefer the complex this area to uptown proper when going out. |
Savannah, Georgia! Beautiful! (10)If you live in Charlotte and haven't been to Savannah, you're missing out, and it's not that far. 3.5 hours from the state line, and 4 from the north side. It is absolutely beautiful there, so go and spend 3 to 4 days there as well as at the nearby beach Tybee Island. This list is things we did while there so you can know what to do when you go! |
Tourist Stuff in and Around Charlotte (20)Most of these are in or near Charlotte. They are in no particular order, but if you're coming to visit the area, here are some ideas for things to do. |
Asheville aka Beer City USA and Nearby Areas (3)Asheville is becoming more and more of a regular stop for us. In the summer, you can cool off in the higher elevations, and in the fall you can see some of the most beautiful fall leaf colors anywhere. I love all of the beer and locally owned business in Asheville. |
