Ode to the Evil Pink Box

See All Lists
You say Doughnuts I say Donuts. They come in that famous pink box. But it's what's inside that counts. Donuts have gourmeted themselves within the past few years. Crazy flavor combos, baked not fried, fresh fruit filled ones that are only around when the fruit is at its prime and in season. But you can't forget where all these gourmet ones came from so you gotta appreciate the donut for what it is, a cheap American classic.

Yes I said "I" and "in lust" and "vegan" and "gluten free" in the same sentence.

Blueberry Donuts without a long wait, annoying teens/first year college kids and served up with politeness and a smile?

I'm a fan!

Didn't get the glazed one bc they were out but the regular one was great and the vanilla frosting topped one was good.

A good way to start the day.

2 Maple Bacon, 1 Chocolate Spice, 1 Cornmeal Rosemary Cherry and 1 Meyer Lemon Huckleberry.

We went here of course for the Maple Bacon and it was quite tasty. Although RL and I both agreed that the Cornmeal Rosemary…More »

I'm not sure if it is like this on all Saturdays, but we arrived @ 12:15ish and got right in. The space felt more like an old school ice cream parlor/soda pop shop than a diner but I enjoyed the vibe. Tables are really close but not a problem for us…More »

I really like this donut shop. Even though it is located off two super busy streets (Crenshaw and Lomita) it is still easy to get in and out of if you need that quick donut fix. I think their end location in this mini strip of stores helps.

I'm all for the hyped up donut joints. For me, they rarely disappoint.

WiFi Related (43)

There are many other places out there instead of The Bucks, The Bean and Pete's. Not all these places are the kind to set up shop for hours with your lappytop but they've got the free wifi so plug in if you please.

Cup O Cup O Joe (29)

Sometimes for me just the smell of coffee brewing is enough. But if you need a pick me up or a warm me up these will do the trick.

Me Me Me (13)

Everyone needs a little me time

Delizioso! Italian Feasts! (16)

Your Italian Grandma would approve you to mangia mangia at these places.

Warm me up with Wine (14)

I like them all! Red, White, Pink or Bubbly. I'm a sucker for a great Pinot or Zin. A full bodied Cab with a meaty steak is just sexy. Pop open a bottle of bubbly for Mimosa time. And there is nothing better than a Rose or Riesling on a hot summer day.

When the moon hits your eye like a big PIZZA pie that's amore (35)

From deep dish, to thin crust, to your traditional hand tossed, hell I even love Costco Pizza! Pizza is something that I could eat everyday. My Grandma used to make me pizza for breakfast when I was a wee CG. Pizza is so good and never gets old.

Breakie or Bust (50)

I am not known to be an early riser but I wake up at the crack of dawn for breakie every now and then. Score if the joint serves breakie all day.

Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn (16)

I love staying at Marriott brand hotel!

Pass the Pupusa Please (6)

I fell in love with first ooey gooey bite. Ain't nothing better than a hand made doughy pocket stuffed filled with ooey gooey cheese and other yummy goodies. Since jumping on the Pupusa bandwagon I have decided I will only marry a Salvadorian man as I want his Mom to make me pupusas for the rest of my life. The End.

Shout Out to GREAT Service (43)

A big HOLLA! to all the awesome servers out there.
