Mimi "I don't want to move!" C.'s Profile

Not New York

See All Lists
I'd never had much of a desire to go to Toronto because I figured it was pretty much like NYC, where I went often (being an Easterner). Finally went in 2001 to see a band and it's so very much NOT NYC, thankfully.

I got into town and my B&B nearby wasn't answering the door - thanks, guys! - so I wandered down  Church St., dragging my overstuffed bag and starving. I passed many gay bars and pizza joints, but I desperately needed a STRONG cocktail. Lo and…More »

Sure a mixed bag of reviews about this place. Hell, let the whiners stay away.

What an incredible find! I'd been wandering on Danforth, figuring I'd find a cool Greek spot and have hummus for dinner. After a glass of wine at The Auld Spot (and a look at their menu, which was too meat-heavy for this quasi-vegetarian), I kept…More »

1/10/12: I'm so very sad that Yasi's Place has closed. Moving to a larger location, perchance?

Really a 4.5 star spot. I'd bookmarked Steph L.'s review because of her mention of grilled cheese with pesto and avocado - YUM! Ambitious to stop here my…More »

Connie T.'s probably right about the ability of PawsWay to survive without a lot of continued funding, but I sure appreciate the fact that such a spot exists NOW. I was probably missing my cats while on holiday and saw a listing in NOW magazine that…More »

Mad about Mad City (9)

I love the hippie vibe and offbeat spirit of the city. Having big, beautiful lakes and  gorgeous homes with huge front porches doesn't hurt, either.

FantastIC IC (5)

Iowa City wasn't quite as cool a college town as Madison - still searching for cultural pursuits - but I was impressed.

Non-sucky spots near moi (7)

East Roscoe Village is WAY more frat boyish than I'd like, but here's the best of the best close  by:

Loop-y/Veggie/Fishy Lunches: $5.50 or less (12)

Am I the only person on a budget?! I never see prices mentioned for lunch reviews, but I have a $5.50 (plus tax) daily maximum.
