IMRHO, the clear winner among the major sports Halls of Fame. Unlike the others, the Hockey Hall of Fame is located in the heart of downtown. Their personnel are outgoing and truly helpful. As with the other sports HOF's, player acknowledgments…More »
(3.50 stars) To any baseball fan, mention of "Cooperstown" means the HOF; it is an American icon. I've seen the HOF grow from a single dark and dingy building to the huge complex that it now is. The various wings separate the player displays from…More »
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is strong in most regards. Access and parking are very good. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff are very impressive; on par with the Hockey HOF as the best. The tributes to the HOF inductees are in the form…More »
(2.50 stars) The National Soccer Hall of Fame closed in February 2009, although the HOF itself continues to induct new members. When opened, it was an interesting example of how an attraction of this nature could be operated on a small scale.…More »

In And Around Downtown Fort Lauderdale, FL (16)A year of frequent business travel yields these gems . . . |
Too Much Time In Airports! (36)I travel a lot for business, and have spent a measurable percentage of the past 15 years in airports. I've done reviews for a healthy sampling of these experiences, and will continue to add to this list. Having been through their old versions, the new airports in Detroit and Indianapolis are definately on my want list.Regarding ratings, I regard airports as a necessary evil; 3 stars means that the experience added more than it took (don't expect many). Airport experiences are greatly influenced by the particular terminals used, time-of-day and day-of-week of travel and yes, residual influences of the particular business trip. |
Best Meals of 2011 (10)Here are my "best-of-the-best" meals of 2011, minus two. I cooked a Thai banquet in September which, completely objectively, belongs on this list. Also the Christmas eve dinner I prepared, an attempt to emulate the Cioppino from our San Francisco, completely succeeded. Any one of these restaurants satisfies reasonable criteria as "amazing," in one or more ways. |
Outstanding NE NJ Thai Restaurants (9)Love Thai food, and here are a few places where I love it most. |
