My Favourite Island that Isn't

See All Lists
The Granville Island Public Market is the best one-stop-shop for all that you need to whip up the absolute best cuisine at home, and not a bad place to grab a bite either. Several other places on the island are worth a stop, too. In the market, there are several places competing for the same customers by providing highly similar products, but after spending some time there and shopping around, I've come to know which places are better for specific items, and discuss them in this list :) Oh, also, incase you didn't know, Granville Island isn't actually an island...

Definitely my usual for seafood on Granville Island, Seafood City knows their stuff, as they should after 25 years in the biz. There's something good about buying Kumamotos and Kusshis from a kind elderly Japanese woman, and that sashimi-grade tuna…More »

Despite the prices, Liberty has a darn good selection of tasty vintages, especially on the high end. This location has some incredible Bordeaux 1st growths, including Petrus. While slightly, and by slightly I mean extremely, out of my price range,…More »

This is the best casual, traditional fish 'n' chips in Vancouver, hands down. Something about the batter just puts it a notch above the rest. Even on a cold day like today I can be convinced to go a sit outside in a drizzle for the oh-so-crunchy on…More »

Anthony in Boston (13)

Just like the other "Anthony in (city)" lists, I spend a lot of time in Boston, and this is where I've been. You'll notice it's of the greater Boston area, not just Boston proper, with a heavy dose of Concord establishments. I lived in Concord for 15 years, and my parents still do...

The Services (11)

as in not restaurants... in Vancouver... stores either.. just services.

A Man Enjoys Tobacco (3)

Sometimes I like to enjoy a nice cigar paired with a generous pour of bourbon, scotch, or cognac, and on occasion even a cigarette. This is where I've purchased in Vancouver.

A Gastown Jaunt (22)

A tour of the local 'hood a la Antonio.

On the Finer Side (4)

Sometimes, one simply must truly dine.

On Caffeine (7)

99 times outta 100, I go for an Americano.

Up on the hill @ UBC (5)

Studying at UBC, then working at offices on campus, I've been around the block here.

Anthony in Seattle (6)

Having family in the Seattle area, I go here A LOT. These are the tales of my many experiences.

Fuddy Duddy but I Like It (4)

These places are kinda kitchy in a way I normally wouldn't go for, but are redeemed for one reason or another 'cus I like them!

Anthony in Montreal (6)

My place of birth, Montreal holds a special place in my heart. Full of great everything... people, restaurants, shopping, hotels... and most of my family - I spend time in Montreal regularly, and this is where I've been.
