I did not have high expectations for this tour because it sounded cheesy and touristy but I can't believe what a great time I had. It's so cool to see through those blocks of purple glass in the sidewalk from UNDERNEATH the sidewalk! The tour guides…More »

Taking friends from out of town here is a lot of fun. You'll get huge props for knowing a place only a Seattle local would know since there's no signage, just a friendly guy standing outside an unmarked door. The fellow we met outside is a co-owner…More »

I have yet to find a place like this, especially this size. It's kept nice and clean and the front desk staff are friendly. The scrub was pretty awesome, better than I had expected (it didn't hurt like I thought it would). Everything else has already…More »
I love Fry's, it's geek heaven but there are conditions to giving it such a lofty title. First, you have to be a geek. I am willing to bet that any customer chosen at random in that store has more technical knowledge than most of the employees. This…More »

I came here for the first time on Saturday. We waited about 25 min total, that includes the wait to order and then the wait for the sandwiches. Since it was sunny and warm, the wait was totally worth it. I don't think I need to repeat what everyone…More »

I was there not long ago, but tonight we had to go back because I had gnocchi on my mind. Bf had the burger with shoestring truffle frites. Both were delicious, as was the eggplant stuffed with ricotta cheese and the panacotta and mint gelato with…More »
I love gourmet dishes when they're all under $17. Most entrees on the menu here are 12 or 13 bucks… Read more »

I love coming here. We don't do it often enough but I don't live in the area. So the flavors I've tried are salted caramel, honey lavender, thai iced tea, scout mint, and jasmine green tea. I liked all of them though the salted caramel got a bit too…More »
Seriously the best mocha ever, EVER. I'm even willing to stand in line for it. Now if they would only take that incredibly offensive painting off the wall. It is behind plexiglass and all that so I'm guessing it's some prized possession but I cannot…More »

Best pre-prohibition style cocktails ever, none of that sugary insta-mix crap that gives you a hangover. They really know their drinks and they make them flawlessly. I'm extremely picky about sushi and was impressed by their quality and freshness.…More »
Wow they really exceeded expectations!. This is yet another restaurant we keep forgetting to try but we did that this weekend for my birthday. We were actually supposed to go to Hop Vine next door but the wait was too long and it ended up not being a…More »

I hated anything that resembled sweet potatoes until I had their sweet potato fries, yum. Dinner there was excellent. But brunch, is seriously the best I've had in Seattle (yes I've been to Portage Bay, this is BETTER I swear to the gods). I once…More »
Places I love to hate (17)Never go here. |
Best of Capitol Hill (30)My favorite little spots in Capitol Hill, my favorite neighborhood. If you're from Vancouver, I'd say it's a mix of Davie and Commercial Drive. If you're from the SF Bay Area, I'd say it's a mix of Castro and the Mission (minus Latino influence because Seattle is pretty darn white). |
"I feel good. I knew that I would, now" (9)Places to go to feel good. |
Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, BC (7)Vancouver BC is the mecca of good Chinese food. My parents think it's because so many of the top chefs from Hong Kong immigrated to Vancouver when HK was handed back over to China. Whatever the reason, there's no better place for Chinese food. People (e.g. Eugene at the last Elite event at Two Beers) often ask me where to go since there are tonnes of Chinese food (and other ethnic) restaurants all over Vancouver (and Richmond) so I'm going to start a list just for you folks. I grew up in Vancouver, most of my friends are from there, and my family is still there, so I should be able to come up with a good list. |
Japanese food in Seattle (6)I'm from Vancouver BC and later San Francisco, so I'm a picky eater of Japanese food because I've been spoiled silly in other cities where it's more popular. Hence, this list is short. |
