We've dined in many fantastic restaurants (French Laundry, Alinea, Mugaritz, Pierre Gagnaire), and Chef Normand Laprise's Toque definitely stands among the best.  We dined here in May, 2008 and though I've been remiss in writing up a timely review,…More »

Marche Atwater was definitely one of the highlights of our mini-moon in Montreal.

It is gorgeous, easily accesible via Metro and a very recognizable landmark on the horizon.

While the produce looked wonderful, I was much more drawn to the indoor meat…More »

Faded glory... definitely a beautiful old hotel, but in sore need of some renovations and updating.  For a hotel in the middle of downtown, why is there no wifi?  They do have a connected option, however, that costs about $10/day.  Boo.

3.5 stars...

Like Christopher M., we also made the pilgrimage to Schwartz's after the numerous guidebook references and raves about the place as an institution and *the* best deli in Montreal to get smoked meat.

We waited in line for around 20-30…More »

After failing miserably to get walk-in spots at Garde Manger right when they opened, we tried to locate L'Orignal in Montreal's Old Town, run by the same folks behind GM.  It was not that easy to locate, though it was our faults...  we stupid…More »

Perfectly satisfactory sushi - for $21.49 Cdn you are able to consume all the sushi you can eat - be careful to not order too much as there is $1 penalty for each piece you cannot finish.

The rolls are standard - you won't find any exotic ingredients…More »

The guidebooks recommended Le Petit Moulinsart for their mussels. They come in numerous preparations, in petite and full portions.  We opted for 1 regular and 1 petite portion, along with appetizers and an entree.

The verdict: stick with the mussels…More »

Bilboquet is quite a trek from downtown Montreal at 9pm on a Sunday night and you're taking public transport... nestled along a tree-lined street in a very residential neighborhood, it came highly recommended by co-diner at Le Petit Moulinsart.
