I'm told this spot has the best bagels in Montreal. The texture is nice, crispy with a nice chewy inside. I had the garlic and the onion, which were full of flavor. They have a bunch of spreads like hummus, tzaziki, lox, etc.

Another must try Montreal…More »

Awesome Portuguese bakery.

Here you will find the origin of Chinese, Dan Tat, in the original Portuguese Po Tat. It's more caramel-ly and less eggy than the Chinese counterpart, with a crispier crust.

Do give it a try when you're here.

This place is probably at the top of most Montreal tourists' lists. Old school Jewish deli specializing in a Montreal favorite, smoked brisket.

I had the fatty brisket, with a pickle on the side. The meat itself was only lightly smoky, but very…More »

What an awesome farmer's market. The market is huge with an excellent variety of produce and at bargain prices to boot.

In addition to the great produce, you can find maple syrup in multiple grades and tasty cheese in the nearby fromagerie. Must…More »

Cool House music. Too bad I already have that in my Ipod.

Salmon tartare, although slightly lacking in salmon flavor, was a good start. Balanced and well seasoned.

My AAA grade strip loin however, was an overcooked and underseasoned mess. It was more…More »

For those of you familiar with the makeshift drum/rhythm sessions at UC Berkeley's Sproul Plaza, you'll find an even bigger and more impressive session happening on Sundays at Parc du Mont-Royal, called Tam Tam Jam.

Come watch and groove to the beats,…More »

Of course I had to have my requisite international bowl of Pho. I tried the Pho Dac Biet, with good quality cuts of beef. The broth is reminiscent of Turtle Tower's in SF, light and homey. Noodles are the thick fresh rice noodles.

Cool vibe at this Old Port spot specializing in beef. An eclectic DJ spins 80s-ish tracks.

The oysters were some of the best I've had in a while, nice and briney. The carpaccio was fine, served with a tasty ceasar salad.

The signature burger is wet…More »

Taquerias (51)

A few taquerias in the Bay that I've tried.  As you can see my benchmark is "Al Pastor", marinated pork cooked on a spit.  But some places don't actually use a spit anymore - sacrilege!

SF Mission District (39)

Gritty and Grimy, but you'll find some good eats in this dynamic neighborhood.

New American (41)

Midrange contemporary cuisine which San Francisco thrives at

Richmond 'district' eats (34)

my ex-neighborhood eats..

Marina (13)

Yes, sometimes I come here ;)

Korean Food (56)

Korean food, one of my favorite cuisines.  I love how you get all the different panchan, adding variety to your  meal.  If you get bored with your entree, no worries, have a bite of kimchi, and voila, a burst of flavor!

Burgers (16)

My San Francisco Bay Area Burger List

Marin County (14)

Lunchin' during work in Marin County. Hard pressed to find good food here but there is some to be had.
