Very solid food and service at this Marina institution (practically). It's refreshing to visit a long standing establishment and get away from new openings with potential service and food issues.
They have a huge back patio to accommodate more guests…More »

3.5 stars, rounding up for the old school institution-status feel and great service.
My buddy's kids were trick or treating in the Marina so we saw Game 4 here. Go Giants!
The fried oysters were really juicy, with a tasty jalapeno cream sauce.

Pub food taken to the next level. The spot is quite popular for drinks in the Marina, so come early if you want to enjoy dinner.
The deviled eggs were really good, better than Wayfare Tavern's. It comes with bacon, fried shallots, and pickled onions.

Pretty good crispy pizzas at this Beretta spinoff. Margherita with Burrata is always a good choice. The pies are served properly hot here, which Berreta seemed to fail at.
Not a bad choice for pizza if you happen to find yourself in the Marina.…More »
Trippa Napoletana was fine, but can't compete with Incanto's version.
The margherita was pretty tasty, all the elements worked together, with a good ratio of cheese, sauce and basil.
However, the squid ink pasta was pretty bland, and the pork ragu…More »

Perhaps I went on an off day, but this location of Barney's is no good in my book. I much prefer the East Bay locations, where they do my favorite burger, the Parisien right.
Here my Parisien burger, ordered medium rare, came overcooked, and instead…More »

One of the few places open early on a Saturday in the Marina. We had brunch here after a good workout.
I had the special Yucatan chicken salad with habanero vinegarette, which came with avocado slices, romaine, tender chicken with a good kick from…More »

Didn't expect much from this Asian spot in the Marina, but I was actually surprised that the flavors were fairly authentic, not dumbed down.
We ordered mostly from the specials menu, but were disappointed to find out they ran out of the Beggar's…More »

Went opening night.
Alice Waters of Izakayas. Fresh product but the flavors are too subtle. The sushi was the best thing we ate. Really fresh uni, ankimo, and shima aji.
The skewered chicken thighs and wings were pretty nice too though, with the bincho…More »

Brand new bustling brasserie in the Marina. We luckily scored a table in the bar area. Of note, it gets really loud in here.
We ordered mostly appetizers: oysters (nice and fresh), braised octopus, sardines, brussel sprouts, pomme frites, and tete de…More »

Good burger, but it didn't live up to the hype for me. Don't come expected to be blown away.
I had the umami burger, nice soft bun, juicy patty, parmesan crisp, roasted tomato, and shitake mushrooms. I didn't care for the mushrooms and thought the…More »

Had a great sandwich at this new spot.
I forget the sandwich name but it came with two types of salumi, and Italian sauce. Had it on Dutch crunch. Really good ratio of bread to meat and the sauce tied everything together.

Pho Quest (54)I appreciate a good pho broth. A broth more about the essence of the beef bones it was cooked with a light undertone of onions to complement and slightly sweeten the broth. I'm not too keen on too much anise or cloves, the less the better. This perfectly balanced pho broth should induce you to eat slowly, appreciating the savory goodness, and drink the broth to the last drop.... Oh yeah, fresh beef is a must! |
Taquerias (53)A few taquerias in the Bay that I've tried. As you can see my benchmark is "Al Pastor", marinated pork cooked on a spit. But some places don't actually use a spit anymore - sacrilege! |
