We bought the 9 euro ticket which got us into the Bobboli Gardens, the Silver Museum, the Porcelain Museum and the Costume Museum. We could have spent more time but the temperature was about 30 C and the walk in the gardens tired us somewhat, though…More »
Have returned a few more times since taking out a membership. They have lots of neat shows - last week's featured lilies and the perfume of so many was exquisite as were the arrangements. The oldest part, the rock garden, is exquisitely landscaped.…More »
We went here a few days ago and were sufficiently impressed to take out a membership, even though we… Read more »

This has become the greatest free attraction in Chicago. The Cloud Gate, the fountains, skating, Gehry pavilion and beautiful gardens all show off this expensive but spectacular addition to Chicago's greats. A must for out-of-towners.
When I moved to Chicago in 1980, this place was dinky, with just a Japanese garden and a couple of other things. It has now grown into one of the premier botanical gardens in the country, with new additions every year. Parking fee is fair enough…More »

This is one of the premier attractions in the LA area and worth every penny of the admission. You will need to plan on a full day. Museums are lovely, even for those who like myself are not real aficionados of British painting. But the best part…More »

Another great botanical garden, even for Southern California, which has many public gardens to visit. For me, the highlights here are the many peacocks, the palms and the waterfall. Historical building on premises are real yet charming and add…More »

I must say this place puts both of the conservatories in Chicago as well as the domes in Milwaukee to shame. It is old, classy, large, varied and their spring flower show -- we caught the last weekend -- was not only beautiful but original and…More »
Exquisite Japanese garden with ponds, waterfalls, bridges, a zen garden, a teahouse and statuary. Worth a special trip to Rockford if you are at all into gardening and garden. Especially lovely in fall. Nice gift shop as well. They are expanding,…More »
Yes, it's about 65 miles from the North Side and longer if you use the Tri State. But it's worth every penny you'll spend on gas. This is the best greenhouse/nursery I've seen in Chicago. The prices for annual flats are about $4 less than the…More »

This place is old, classy, updated and large all at the same time. It has wonderful special exhibits and kids activities but is nice just to wander around. The interior is very thoughtfully designed and extremely beautiful. Recent renovation and…More »
This review is by city but they are primarily a web business:
THE place to buy vegetable seeds. They are cheaper than most all of the others and have a terrific selection. Plus they provide extremely prompt shipping. Some flower seeds too.

A hidden secret. Bring cash - that's all they take. But you can buy concrete statuary from a manufacturer who supplies area nurseries and garden shops at wholesale. Nice selection though they could use a few more modern and arts & crafts style…More »
Not the cheapest and bring cash as they do not accept credit cards. But if you are looking for annuals, especially flats, and want the maximum in variety this is the place to go. They have lots of colors and types of plants for both containers and…More »

This is a good garden center with a particularly great selection of rosebushes in spring, plus nice selection of perennials. Also a good place to buy pre-started vegetables and herbs.
Good if slightly pricey garden center. Knowledgeable staff and lots of stuff for water gardens, among other things. They run seminars and special events. Large selection of nursery stock.
A truly unique place! They carry virutally every variety of conifer which will grow in northern Illinois plus some specialty broadleaf trees. The grounds are beautiful and they have full grown specimens of all of the trees they sell so you can see…More »
