Kensington Market is one of my happy places. Walking around there, even on a winter's day is like going into sensory overload. I always make sure to carry some extra shopping totes with me when I head through the streets. What can I say, I'm just a…More »

Ok Greg C. this one's for you! I could wait no longer to meet up to finally check out the Gilead to discover for ourselves if the guru of the local food movement still had his mojo working. I know that Chef Kennedy has had a few ups and downs over…More »
I ain't been around Yelp much of late. I've been busy spending my days meandering from Farmer's market to farmer's market. It's an interesting way of eating and shopping. It's taken me off the beaten path and a few weeks ago it landed me in the…More »

I have found a new house of worship on Queen St. E. and it's called The Pie Shack. Hallelujah, amen sista, pass the plate, I've been saved. This is my kind of temple. I could give thanks here on an ongoing basis.
After a celebratory Decemburger…More »

I love this bar. I found an new oasis on Queen Street only steps away from the Drake and the Gladstone and the plethora of the usually seen and wannabe seen places that litter the cusp of Parkdale. This is my kinda place. I just want to carve my name…More »

Made a second trip back to Swirl, this time with my winger & fellow Yelper Deanna in tow. I still love this place and in my opinion its a really cool hidden gem. We slurped back a bottle of Italian table wine which was only $23 and all things…More »

Eating dinner at Carmine Accogli's restaurant the Big Ragu is like coming home to an old friend's place or better yet dinner at Nonna's casa! The BR is an old restaurant spot (formerly Venezia) and stepping into it one can't help but to feel like…More »

The Last Supper....communal dining at it's best! (5)Communal dining is a growing phenomenom in restaurants and cafes in about the city. It ain't for everybody but it can be a fun and interesting experience. I |
Where There's Smoke.....There's Meat (7)And on the seventh day God created the barbeque and hence began the quest to create the perfect barbequed food. I love my 'cue....from the deep south philosophy to slow and low all the way through to the Carolina's where it's all about the sauce and the sizzle. This is my meat journey. |
So many fish in the Sea! (5)Not all fish and chips are created equal. Just a simple meal. A piece of fish and a side of fried potatoes. When it's right it's a thing of beauty and when it's wrong it's a bottle of Imodium waiting to happen. Here's my list.... |
My Decemburger! (17)"A Hamburger is warm and fragrant and juicy. A hamburger is soft and nonthreatening. It personifies the Great Mother herself who has nourished us from the beginning. A hamburger is an icon of layered circles, the circle being at once the most spiritual and the most sensual of shapes. A hamburger is companionable and faintly erotic. The nipple of the Goddess, the bountiful belly-ball of Eve. You are what you think you eat." - Tom Robbins |
Grape Expectations! (3)I consider myself somewhat of a closet Oenophile! I live in a small house and tucked away into the lower level of my house is small wine storage unit with a temperature control (currently it sits at 57 degrees). Currently it holds about 220 bottles, primarily big, bold, full bodied reds, a few champagnes and a couple of other trinkets. I have travelled extensively, guided by food and wine. I would like to take this opportunity to perhaps do some wine reviewing and make some suggestions as to the good, the bad and the ugly at the LCBO. After all, life is too short to drink crappy wine, right? |
