Japanese Products (US and Canada)!

See All Lists
My small list of stores where you can find Japanese basics (snacks, foods, books, shampoo, clothing, etc.) to Japanese cosmetics/toiletries. Hair straighteners by Palty or Venezel and make up like Maquilage and Majolica Majorca is impossible to obtain in the U.S. but you can find them in Canada at MG Cosmetics or T&T for hair straightener. Good luck and happy travels, whatever side of the border you may be! Please feel free to message me if you have questions on products (can't help you with food since I can't eat traditional foods unless it's vegan).

This is the amazing 2 story Daiso store that puts the American Daiso  stores to shame (ours is cramped and 1 floor in Seattle!).

I stocked up on make-up q-tips that are rounded on one side and a pit angled/pointy on the other: where else can you can…More »

Update:

MG is still awesome. I got my order of eyeliner in the mail and it was in perfect condition and the mail delivery was quick (considering I ordered it when it was out of stock at the store, they order from Japan and then MG delivers to me via…More »

T&T has a lot of Chinese foods but some Japanese goods are also mixed in! This is  great place to find Japanese hair dye (Palty brand amongst a few others like Venezel!) and Japanese hair straighteners for prices close to what it's sold for in Japan.…More »

Daiso!

Do you need a toilet scrubber?
A brush to oil your frying pan?
Or maybe you need a cheap aluminum pot to boil your ramen?
Body soap?
Do you need highlighting pens?
Maybe you need ochawan for dinner?
Or maybe a zabuton?

Come to Daiso and get everything…More »

Recently updated lists from Ema N.

Seattle restaurants: Safe for allergic people and vegans (20)

I'm not vegan but have severe allergies and am very lactose intolerant. Many restaurants are not careful with cross-contamination (I react immediately to seafood/shellfish) and are careless in food preparation (unfortunately, many vegans might be ingesting animal protein this way without knowing it.). This is a list of restaurants I can eat at without literally dropping dead in 5 minutes because they are completely vegan, prevent cross-contamination or list a dairy-free and/or a decent partially vegan menu.

UW (30)

My review on the University of Washington and places around the UW campus.

Allergy Safe (17)

Restaurants and companies I support (some due to the lack of shopping options, despite bad customer service) that have catered to my seafood/shellfish allergies and lactose intolerance. Also, the restaurants listed here have managed to not kill me (yes, literally) by their great attention to cross-contamination prevention and knowledge of ingredients in their meals. Most of these restaurants and companies may also help those on restricted diets (Celiac, vegan, vegetarian, etc.) since there are often various menu and/or product options. I hope this helps, as I am extremely sensitive to seafood/shellfish contamination and react immediately to cross contamination.

AVOID (25)

Places where I've received less than spectacular service - some of these crappy places have even closed!

Ema's Capitol Hill (23)

Places I've been around the Hill. Most good, some horrendous.

Finances (4)

Excellent to poor financial service banks around town.

Da grinds wen brok' da mout! (13)

Tasty places to eat in Hawaii Nei, or, eh, go ova heah cuz its ono! Dees places no fo' stay in Washington, kay?

Seafood/Shellfish Allergies or Vegan? (14)

These are places to AVOID if you have seafood/shellfish allergies or are a strict vegan. I react immediately to any seafood/shellfish so this is a list of restaurants that you may also want to avoid if you are also severely allergic to seafood/shellfish or are a strict vegan. Unfortunately, many restaurants do serve excellent food but many places also do not clean their grills after cooking one protein source or use the same oil for deep frying everything and I find out the hard way. Other places, also are not very keen on dealing with people who do suffer from life threatening allergies. I hope this list will help others who have a severe seafood/shellfish allergy in preventing a trip to the ER! :D

Education (4)

These are 3 schools I have attended in Seattle, WA.

Getting Around (8)

Planes, trains, and buses.
